New 7 wonders

Results were just announced after a ceremony at Estadio Da Luz.

In no particular order,
Taj Mahal
Chichen Itza(Cristiano Ronaldo was the one to announce this)
Machu Picchu
Great Wall of China
Petra
Colosseum of Rome
Statue of Christ Redeemer(Scolari was the Brazil representative to who the medal/thing was given)

The Eiffel Tower missed out. Stonehenge, Easter Islands, Statue of Liberty, Sydney Opera House didn't make it either, off the top of my head

Swap out the statue for Stonehenge and that's probably as good as you'd get.

They were showing it live here. Apparently, Taj mahal got the highest vote. No surprise after all the hoo haa over it in the past month in India.
Ronaldo easily got the biggest cheer of the night from the portugese crowd.

Honourable mention: Theatre of Dreams

The list is top heavy with religious monuments. How about some bridges, trans-continental railways, art galleries, zoos or botanical gardens? If longevity is so important, then it's claimed that the Ggantija temple on Gozo is the oldest surviving man-made structure.

Just because you southern tits are so disconnected from the rest of the country, it doesn't mean that noone's seen the damn thing.

It's just a palace ffs and there are better looking ones around europe for that matter.I felt like puking the way every other celebrity felt the need to whore themselves to the media in hope of gaining popularity by saying some stupid memory they had about the taz.You brainless litlle northies constantly feel the need to get the approval of the west, since when does it matter whether a vote determines whether a monument gets the claim to be a 'wonder',your priorities always amaze me.Point is there are much better architectures out there and this does not compare to any of them, just cause we have the quantity of numbers doesnt mean it translates into quanlity.

Since when did online voting decide what the great wonders of the world were? Why is so much publicity being given to a poll organized by some idiot in switzerland with no international standing or expertise in the field whatsoever?

You really have issues with us "sauf" Indians don't you.

Well actually, its you northie dicks who keep coming down here. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad and Maharashtra(it's not north India) have most of the better colleges and also most of the India's software industry is centered in these states. The IITs and IIMs are mostly in northern Indian because of all the political pressure(ffs, the cunts built an IIT in Assam), the same is the case with Indian railways. Don't even get me started on NCR.

We aren't disconnected from the rest of the country, most south indians don't really find the need to go to northern India and being the conservative lot, students dont like to or aren't allowed to leave for the northern states for work or university.

North Indians and South indians are very different. Coming from a government university which has a 50% state quota and 50% of the seats reserved for the rest of India you get a 65:35 ratio of south to north students. A majority of the southern students aren't comfortable with hindi and don't interact with the ones from the north, this creates an initial divide and over a period of 4 years leads to a whole lot of pointless shit.

This is all really very gay and I'm bored now, sorry to take up your time....

Where is the Acropolis in that list? Oh right with so many statues being stolen by the English... UNESCO should have voted for this list and not biased human beings...
