Use by Dates

I have in front of me a Chicken and bacon sandwich with mayonaisse on brown.

Use by date is 7/7/08

What are the chances of dying through eating this?

Sell by dates are the Devils way of getting you to throw away perfectly good food, if it smells OK get it down yer.

No wait, what I meant to say was sell by dates must always be obeyed, and non complience often leads to premature death.

By premature do you maybe mean 1 day earlier?

I can handle premature as theres scope for movement on that.

However sudden death would maybe have got me a bit nervous.

Thanks for the advice men, was a good bite.

I ate some yogurt once that was 32 days past its best before date.

Felt a little shaky for about an hour and then I was fine.

thats some going

I last week watched a mate who'd claimed he could swill a teaspoon of tabasco sauce round his mouth try doing so. In fairness he managed the 10 seconds swilling and then required urgent cooling action in is mouth.

Silly boy ran to my fridge to grab the milk, before i had chance to tell him that th emilk had actually been sat there for a good two weeks he'd took a mouthfull.

Needless to say he spewed his guts up

So on reflection i'd say Milk/dairy products in general should have there use by dates strictly stuck to!

use by dates are more of a guideline than a rule, i find most stuff is good to go anywhere up to 6 months after the use by date, especially meat and dairy products.

Same, I'm a fussy git. I could be eating something the day before it goes off just before midnight, then throw half of it away once the clock strikes 12

I've never gotten food poisoning or anything but I'm really paranoid about use by dates.

You only need to consider the time you're going to spend in the toilet, if you're eating this..

yep, if it smells ok, it usually is. Use by dates are put on as a guidance to cover the asses of manufacturers. too many people suing because they got sick and blame it on the food and stinging them for loads of cash.
