What happened to them?

I've just had myself a bag or 'salt & shake' crisps which got me thinking about something.

Who remembers the days when Walkers crisps would run competitoons and to win you'd have to find a blue envelope/sachet in the packet of crisps?

I used to love opening the packet to find a prize, granted 9 times out of ten it was a free packet of crisp however just finding the prize itself was good enough!!

Does anbody else remember these? and if so do they still do then or were they stopped due to some silly regulations.

Random childhood memories!!

The Salt and Shake brand were the only time you were always a winner! That little blue sachet of salt brought the crisp industry to life. Oh how I miss them

yeah the crisps tasted like shit though.

Walkers were pointing £10 notes in at one point.

Why nowadays are multi pack crisps half empty?

I remember the Hogs Breath Garlic sachet for the Chicken chips. MAN where they strong.

I also remember when McDonalds had some shaker chips which were real good back in the day.

Memories.

Remember when they had the cajun or paprika straw satchets which you would shake into the chips?

They still do them, but they have now been bought by Walkers (as opposed to Smiths before). I had a bag yesterday.

Were they at McDonalds?

If so they were the best thing that joint's ever done.

They were indeed, I used to love them.

Absolute wankers for stopping it, they made the chips beautiful.

Also, remember when McDonalds were doing all the different types of burgers every other week or something, the Mcrib!

They really were awsome, the only redeeming thing about the joint (aside from the whole menu whilst drunk, but that's a different story).

I remember they did Mexicana ones for us, not too sure about Paprica or Cajun come to think of it - neither with the burgers too, but this was years and years ago so I probably just forget. But I remember they only released the chip sachets twice ever, for like a month stint each time.

Everyone loved them. The stupid bastards should bring them back.

I think you can, but i never really rated the stuff.

I did like the 'ploughman lunches' where you'd get two crackers, a cheese triangle and a few pickles.

They too are old school snacks

You get them all over the show in the takeaways up here in Hull. They call it "Chip Spice". Possibly the worst dressing for chips ever. Way too much salt...
