Yet another interview thread

Got a phone call from an accounting practice here in Belfast, about a graduate training contract. Interview next tuesday, shitting myself. First one I've had for a "real" job.

If you remember this thread FAO All employers or managers on the caf then you'll appreciate it's not as straightforward as other interviews.

Best of luck mate, and re the other thread - just be confident that you are the right person for the job, it shouldn't be any kind of factor in their decision.

Just remember, there's probably loads of vastly more experienced and better qualified people going for the job than you.

Good luck!

And thanks Nick. Job won't start til late next summer if I get it. And I won't know before mid December whether I'm successful or not. I'm not placing too much faith in this one interview, but it's the first step in the desperate scramble to secure a job before graduation.

Remember, failing to plan is planning to fail.

I came up with that myself.

Confidence is the key mate, they are already looking to employ you or they wouldn't have invited you for the interview, they just want to meet you and get to know you a bit better. Get suited and booted and think of the interview as your chance to ask them a few questions and clear up any questions they might have about you.

I'd headbutt the receptionist, if I were you.

Companies like a strong man who isn't afraid to headbutt an innocent woman.

It is now a given that joining the Caf will get you a job. Recession busting since 1999.

mine was about 300 quid so thats decent value for it i would never spend too much on a suit i rarely use it enough to need to spend a lot of money on one

I hear birthday suits are en vogue for interviews this season. If choosing this option it might be better to rub up a semi before you go in. I mean it is November after all, and you aim to impress.

Good luck man.

All of my suits are hand-woven from the pre-conditioned pubes of 18 year old, supermodel virgins. Women virgins. And they cost waaaaaaay more than £100.

As I said last time, make sure you tell the interviewer right away about your stammer, and ask that he be patient.

Think about what it would be like if YOU WERE THE INTERVIEWER. What would you be looking to find out about a person. The biggest challenge in any interview is the interviewee be able to express exactly who they are, what their capabilities are and the potential that they have and could deliver. Before you go in, decide in your mind what 3 things you want the interviewer to remember about you when he goes to his boss and talk about you. Then constantly refer to these 3 things throughout the interview and keep giving different types of evidence to support it.

Be confident and proud at who you are. After all, you are the very best person in the world who can be you! Make sure they know who that person is before you leave the interview. Leave the interview without having regret that you did not say something you wanted to.

Best wishes
