What do we make of Pato?

He seems to have been around for an eternity, and considering he's been at a big club for a good while, he doesn't seem to have made the strides that were expected of him.

That said, I just Wiki'd his career stats and he's got a good goal return - especially so considering his age.

Was he over hyped as a kid? Can he become as big a star as he was touted? Is he at the right club?

No he had everything. He was right to be hyped. If you look at his skills and his technique especially when he first arrived at Milan, it was mind blowing.

Yes he still has ample time to become a bigger star than he already is.

No for me he is not. Milan is no longer the club he should be at. He should move to either Spain or England.

As an outsider looking in, Milan doesn't strike me as a great breeding ground for young forwards. They seem to indiscriminately stockpile forwards with little thought as to how they'll fit into the over arching strategy.

Pato, from the limited snippets I've seen, also looks to be misused in a wide(ish) position.

I know he turned PSG down; what's the likelihood of a transfer in Jan/the summer?

Not Milan under allegri anyways. The lad is class and would flourish in the right attacking system. Only injuries are a knock against him

Definately not a natural wide player but can do a job like villa does at barca... Watching the Milan derby yesterday pato looked off colour, perhaps with his reported fall out with allegri. Milan were poor in the final third, their midfield lacked quality to open inter up and pato was isolated too far from the 18 yard box. Seedorf only came on at the 80 minute mark and gave them a spark but pato was removed either for him or shortly after.

He has the pace, dribbling skill and instincts to play up with a partner so he could work with Rooney if we didn't have the array of attacking talent already. Apologies if this post seems a little out of whack, posting from my phone and I'm rather poor at it (posting and posting from my phone )

I disagree. He ain't an out-n-out striker like Hernandez or Ruud. I think if you already have one of those, then right wing is the next best position for him. I would say he would thrive in a 4-3-3 playing either right behind the striker or on the right wing. But then again, if you are short on strikers, I think he is perfectly capable of playing up top on his own.

I think he's in the category of 'Why spend X amount on Player Y when we so desperately need player Z!!!!!'

Little to no chance of getting this guy for cheap. I can't say I know enough about him to judge if he could fit in our team but with what little knowledge I have, I doubt it.

Theres talk of Corinthians trying to bring him back to Brazil. If he could get over his injuries I still think he has everything in his game to be one of the top 3 or 4 players in the world it would be a real shame if he doesnt fulfill the huge potential that had united bidding £14 million for him when he was 16

What a strange career he's had so far. He needs to get out of Milan, I've been saying it for years. I think we'd turn it round for him but its not going to happen in a million years.

It looks like the Kaka deal where Milan knew injuries had done for him and sold him while they could get the value.
