Angel Di Maria
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is planning a raid for Benfica star Angel di Maria.
The Mirror says Ferguson is set to watch 21-year-old Di Maria in action against Everton tonight to make one final check on him ahead of a potential £12million transfer-window deal. Ferguson's spies have been tracking the speedy and skillful South American for months, but they went onto red alert when he tortured David Moyes's men in the Europa League a fortnight ago. Di Maria also comes highly recommended by Argentina coach Diego Maradona, who has promoted him to his full team after he scored the goal that secured gold for his country at last year's Beijing Olympics. |

Only seen him 3 times and he's looked a good player in those. He should hopefully be playing against Everton tonight if people want to take a closer look at him, he was very good against them in the last game.

Imo still not good enough for a top 4 side...Would be a good signing for a spurs type club...We really can't afford to buy another winger that will rotate around the squad,we need someone exceptionally talented and i don't think de maria is the answer..

Chelsea target Angel Di Maria says
he is very happy at Benfica and has played down talk of a move to the Premiership. The talented winger is earning rave reviews with his performances for Benfica this season and his displays against Everton in the Europa League have helped his stock rise even further. Chelsea are known to be very keen after their transfer ban was suspended while Manchester City have also been linked with a swoop for the Argentina international. However, Di Maria has played down all the rumours and insists he is happy where he is for now. "I have not spoken to anybody and the only thought in my head at the moment is that I would like to continue playing for Benfica for many years," he said. |

Man City target Di Maria is Man Utd mad!
18.11.09 | tribalfootball.com Manchester City target Angel di Maria admits he's a Manchester United fan! City are prepared to pay Di Maria's £36 million buyout clause to sign him from Benfica. Chelsea and Liverpool are also reported to be interested in the 21-year-old. But the player admits he has his heart set on a dream move to Old Trafford. He said: “Since I was 13 or 14 years old, I’ve been telling my mother and my father that my dream is to play some day for Manchester United. “And I won’t stop till I get it. “When I watch [Wayne] Rooney and all of them on TV, I can’t wait to play there at Old Trafford. “When I was a little boy I watched Arsenal games as well, but Manchester United always dazzled me most.” Here's one for the muppet in us. |

Yeah we've still got a Brazilian doing his EC bit there - Pedro. Salamanca were very excited that 'a top South American forward' was on his way until di Maria worked out that playing for Benfica was a better option.

With players like Di Maria though they'd probably want La Liga football to be willing to move on loan, which makes it hard as clubs of that level don't always want to be doing other clubs' work in developing players at the expense of their own. |

That goal's just taking the piss. For him to try that is confirmation that he's special, just how special we'll have to wait and see.
But.. is it me or does he need to bulk up a bit
