Someone said before he was a joy to watch, spot on. but weve only seen a little of him and hes 27.
Im nearly that age so its not old or anything but i was hoping hed be alot younger, as looking at him it would be better if Arshavin was great potential as opposed to finished product. shame. My favourite player of euro '08. |

Advocaat Admits Arshavin Is Likely To Exit Zenit
The 27 year-old is one of Europe’s hottest properties and was instrumental in Russia’s 3-1 Euro 2008 quarter-final win over the Netherlands on Saturday. Advocaat knows that it will be hard to keep hold of the player amid interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs. “Arshavin is interested in moving to a foreign country,” Advocaat told Goal.com. “If he gets the right opportunity I think he will go.” The former Netherlands, PSV Eindhoven, Rangers and South Korea boss knows better than most exactly what Arshavin can do. “He is a very opportunistic player, very based on himself," he added. "He’s a player that you don’t see for 50 minutes and then suddenly, he’s gone and can score a goal, Not a lot of players have that quality. “Sometimes you sit on the bench and think ‘I have to take him out’ but you don’t do that because you know that he can change and decide the game in a second.” http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=746379 By now just Arsenal and Milan are the clubs linked to him. |

Arshavin prefers Spain move
Russian playmaker has offers from England and Germany Russia ace Andrei Arshavin says he has offers from England and Germany, but his preference is to play in Spain. Arshavin has emerged as the star of Euro 2008 following his stunning performance in Russia's quarter-final win over Holland. He had missed the opening two matches of the tournament through suspension and also produced an influential display in the final group game against Sweden. The playmaker impressed for Zenit St Petersburg last season and is tipped to leave the Uefa Cup winners at the end of the European Championship. Zenit coach Dick Advocaat conceded last week that the 27-year-old wants to move on and a clutch of clubs have been linked with a £10million-plus bid. Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City and Newcastle United have all been mooted as admirers of Arshavin, while Barcelona are rumoured to see him as an ideal replacement for Deco. Time has come Arshavin admits it may be time to leave Russian football and claims his dream would be to join a Spanish club. "Perhaps the time has come, yes," Arshavin told AS when asked whether he would move to another European league. "I know that I have offers from England and Germany, but what I really want is to play in the Primera Liga. "It's the championship that I have always followed, I like how football is played there. "But for now, I have no offers from Spain." The schemer's international team-mate Roman Pavlyuchenko has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Arshavin feels there are many more Russia players who will have caught the eye at Euro 2008. He added: "There are many good players in my country, but people are now discovering us. "It's not only me. This tournament is an opportunity for us." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...726049,00.html |

Hmm a article in Madrid paper AS about Arshavin hoping to play in Spain. That's not suspicious at all...
Btw at Zenit he earns £60 000 every week, like expected only the top clubs will be able to afford him. |

Premier League impresses Arshavin
Russia playmaker Andrei Arshavin has hailed the Premier League as the best football club competition in the world.
The 27-year-old has asked to leave Uefa Cup champions Zenit St Petersburg and his transfer value has soared after his superb performances at Euro 2008. Arshavin has said he would prefer to move to an English or Spanish club and he told BBC Radio 5 Live of his admiration for England's top level. "I see English games on TV - it's the best league in the world," he said. As well as the Uefa Cup, Arshavin helped Zenit win the Russian league last season, but he is now keen to pursue a new challenge in another European league. Arsenal and Chelsea have already been linked with a possible move, along with Spanish giants Barcelona. "I would like to change club," said Arshavin in English. "It's not a big difference between England and Spain. It's another level for me." Zenit coach Dick Advocaat is already resigned to losing his star player when the tournament ends. "I can understand that he wants to play in Europe," Advocaat told BBC 5 Live. "I think he has some clubs in his mind, some in England and others in Spain, because they are the only two countries he would like to play in. "If you lose one of your main players you don't like it as a coach but you have to be realistic." Arshavin was suspended for Russia's opening two games at Euro 2008, but his return has propelled Guus Hiddink's side to a semi-final meeting with Spain, the team that beat them 4-1 in their first group game. "It is difficult to say which league would suit him best," added Advocaat. "We play more or less 4-3-3 and our wide players have a lot of freedom. "I'm not sure other coaches will give him the freedom but you have to otherwise it's difficult to use him. He needs the freedom to do what he thinks is best for the team. "I have worked with him for two years and he is a very talented player. "He's just turned 27, he's very quick, he has an excellent shot on both legs and besides scoring he can also provide for other players." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ia/7470415.stm GET CRACKING SAF |

Arshavin Sets Heart on Barca move..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ia/7470415.stm Russia playmaker Andrei Arshavin has set his heart on a move to Barcelona this summer after the end of Euro 2008. Arshavin, who has been one of the stars of the tournament in Russia's run to the semi-finals, has also been linked with a move to the Premier League. But the 27-year-old Zenit St Petersburg midfielder says playing for the club he supported as boy would be his "dream" "Barcelona are my dream, I never thought I would have a genuine chance to play for the club," said Arshavin. He added: "I have supported Barcelona all my life, let's see how the situation unfolds. For now I can't say anything for sure." Arshavin has asked to leave Uefa Cup champions Zenit St Petersburg and his transfer value has soared after his superb performances at Euro 2008. He has said he would prefer to move to an English or Spanish club and he previously told BBC Radio 5 Live of his admiration for England's top level. Five bids in for Arshavin - agent
by Ben Blackmore, 25 June 2008 Andrei Arshavin’s agent has revealed the Euro 2008 star has had more than five offers for his signature, amid reports that Manchester United have entered the race. Arshavin has been outstanding for Russia in their thrilling run to the semi-finals, scoring against Sweden and Holland in two man-of-the-match performances. Barcelona are the playmaker’s ‘dream’ club, but Arsenal’s interest is well-known, while United are also said to be preparing a bid. Arshavin’s agent would not go into specifics, but he believes the eventual winners for his client’s signature will have to pay €20 million (£16 million). “Given the team’s (Russia’s) performance, I think the transfer value has grown for Arshavin, Yuri Zhirkov and Igor Akinfeev - three players who may leave to play abroad,” said Alexei Safonov to Business FM. “Zenit have received more than five proposals from England and France, but Arshavin wants to go to Spain – football that is suited for him. “His transfer price is about €20 million. Zhirkov’s is close to that amount. Zhirkov could play in England and in Germany and Italy. " http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/Ne...ffers---agent/ |
