Certainly wouldn't bet on it. Another newspaper fabrication as so far.

Pogue, Suprised to see you out of the Ronaldo thread, you looked like you had set up camp there and weren't going to venture into any other threads.

I'd be surprised. Ca'nt see Arsenal splashing out close to 30m in one summer. I think he will go to Marseilles to replace nasri.

Chelsea, Man Utd in frame for Lyon's Ben Arfa
tribalfooball.com - June 15, 2008

Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Olympique Lyon winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

La Provence says Chelsea and United have jumped to the front of the queue for Ben Arfa as Arsenal's interest has waned since securing an agreement for Olympique Marseille's Samir Nasri.

Ben Arfa is keen on a move abroad, though would prefer to wait a couple of years before making the great leap.

Me thinks he'd be a great signing regardless. We are going to need someone to fill Giggs' squad place very soon.

Anyone who has taken time to watch Lyon play in both europe and domestic league would have seen the abillity this kid has with a ball at his feet. The kids is inconsistant, bit stroppy and end product needs to be coached into him. I think he sounds just the kinda of player SAF could mould into a worldclass player and would be excellent on opposite flank to nani.

It's a surprising one, you would have thought that Aulas, who has usually been reluctant to offloading their best players would not have let their best winger (apparently) go to a local rival.

He's not that special, I guess. None other explanations spring to my mind.

I think Aulas wants promising young French talent to play in Ligue 1 and that's why he preferred to sell to Marseille even though they are rivals than to a foreign club. Let's face it anyway, it's going to be very hard to compete with Lyon anyway.

That said, Marseille are definitely going to sell Ben Arfa in the future for more money so I guess Aulas just wants to delay the process.

Its a known fact ben arfa and benzema aren't on good terms. Maybe lyon just wanted to get rid of one to keep the other. If this is so, it means benzema most certainly won't be moving this summer.

Attackingflair's right.

Aulas wants to keep the young French talents in France.

OM will be good for a couple years for ben arfa. i think he said that he isn't ready to go abroad just yet so good move all around, we'll have our chance in the future.

But it is a pretty bold move from Ben Arfa, i mean moving form Lyon to Marsellie. What is the point of that? I am pretty sure he was getting regular first team football at Lyon, unless Lyon forced him to go there; he must have had no other choice. If that's the case, this is just a rarity.
