renties have ruled themselves out.arse might go for him depends on the Hleb deal.don't think the dippers want him.That leaves us and i don't think we are interested.So the agent seems to be throwing his name out there and hoping someone comes in for him.

Yep - Roman wants a Russian player in his side. He signed Alexei Smertin a few years back which didn't work out. Then Branislav Ivanovic from the Russian league (although he is Serbian) was signed last year and he's not even played a game. I doubt these two were the choice of the manager.

Normally yes. But Scolari has just bought Deco and I doubt Abramovic will fuck him over this quickly.

There's rumours that he's going to be sold to an Italian club this summer too (Juventus being the favourites, although I think I heard Lazio being mentioned too). All rather odd really.

Yep, i heard that too.

There cant be many players who have signed for a club and never played a first team game - not £9 million players anyway.

Not sure how much Jensen cost but Poborsky was sold for 3.5m, which was still a good amount in those days but far off the many millions Ronaldo and others cost the Italian and Spanish clubs. But perhaps Poborsky's price might be 15m or thereabouts in today's market.

Smertin was a bad player, and was definitely only bought because he was Russian. Ivanovic was apparently being tracked by a lot of the top clubs so I doubt he was bought for the same reason.

That's the most sensible post in this thread. With all the media hysteria after a couple of good games, he was being talked up as one of the best players in the world. Do me a favour. He is 27, and previously was looked on as a decent player, but nothing special. If he's so good, we'd have seen something from him long before now. I've seen him play for Russia against far weaker teams than they face in the Euro's, and he has looked ordinary enough.

If somebody is foolish enough to pay £20m odd for this guy, then they deserve everything they get, which if I had to guess will be stuttering inconsistency, average fitness, and very little sell on value.

Anybody reckon we put in a bid for him? (maybe not £25m, but something like £17m) We may need a new winger anytime soon, no matter what happens with Ronaldo. To me Arshavin looks like a £10-15m player, but the asking prize is ridiculous.

Fair point, but I'd still wager that he's not half the player people are being fooled into thinking he is.
