Benzema

Has anyone seen this guy play? I saw some clips of him from last season and the guy is fucking amazing. If ronaldo wants to go, let him go, 70 million quid could be well spent on a couple of top class strikers.

And as the past has taught us, when you leave united the only was is down

I was listening to a journalist based in France talk about Benzema the other day, and it appears that the correct pronunciation is in fact Ben-semer, and not Ben-zimar.

Is that right or was the pundit doing a David Pleat?

You're obviously not aware but, Benzema has been discussed a fair bit on here in recent months.

Before that begins once more i thought that i would get in a slightly different kind of question.

Yep .Just like he said. Ronaldo is his hero and Rooney his idol and he would love to play with both. Which surely wont happen in Spain.

But why do people compare him with Zidane? They play on different position and Zidane was all about having an amazing touch to find space for himself to build up play and shielding the ball. This is a pure striker. Watching the clips many goals came from tap-ins. I would love to see what the caf would turn into if we signed him. Could it beat that summer with Nani, Anderson, Tevez and ... Hargreaves? And in case we do, who will be the next target?

There is something about the way he moves which does call to mind Zidane. He just seems to float around at times, very graceful and fluid while still being powerful. Then he can just explode into action effortlessly.

Who knows if thats the case - journo's ask many leading questions to young players often to get the response which suits them.

united a re agreat club steeped in history and not many p[layers would turn down the chance to join such a massive club - especially when said club are Champions of Europe.

This lad does look special from whati ahve seen of him and the club should try their hardest to make him a United player.

You must be watching a different player, Benzema is very much like (fat) Ronaldo in the way that he scores great goals and he is a great goalscorer, he scores easy goals because he makes them easy. Him and Rooney as a partnership would be a joy to watch, but we aren't going to get him.

Then again, Fat Ronaldo is not like Zidane eihter. I see the resemblance with him and F.Ronaldo, high speed towards the goal with ability to dribble, fast move and score. There is no Zidane in that.

The next Zidane is just because he's from Algeria and he is France's future. It's the same as saying Pablo Aimar was the next Maradona, completely different players.

This Benzema thing really is overblown. Talented he is but the guy his unproven, has had one consistent season and his hardly prolific. Even though it does not tell the whole story have a look at his record in the first few seasons compared to Ronaldo.

Benzema
Olympique Lyonnais 76 (26 Goals)

Fat Ronaldo
Cruzeiro 13 (12 Goals)
PSV Eindhoven 46 (42 Goals)

Hardly a good comparison.

he has only played 1 season as a striker though... played as a winger the season before... not like a young Ronaldo though... more like a young henry... but those sort of comparisons never tell the full picture... he has a lot of skill and a lot of pace... I'd be very happy if we signed him... but did it realy need another benzema thread... its turning into a few summers ago where there was a new thread each day about ronaldiniho saying we had deffo signed him only for him to end up at barca

Watch him often enough and you will see the comparison, stats don't lie but they can hide the truth. And he has 4 goals in 7 champions league games, which is a good level to judge his ability.

This season he has 27 goals and 18 assists in 43 appearances, and the French league is most definitely a harder league to score in.

He is not overrated.

he might be overpriced though... lyon are known for demanding big money... and if we suddenly recieve oh i dont know say 70 million for a player i bet they would be looking for at least half of that...

Why are you rolling your eyes?
How may times have you watched him play, follow Lyon closely and see most games?
Where did i say he is overrated?
Who says the French is harder than the Dutch League?
Did you miss "Talented he is but the guy his unproven..." and "Even though it does not tell the whole story..."?

Yes, I have nearly every one of Lyon's matches on my computer, mainly because of the Benzema hype. But I have been a follower f Lyon for a very long while now.
