To say that Berbatov is better than Bergkamp is quite ludicrous, Gus

I'd agree somewhat, but I would also say that it is as fair a comparism as you can get.

Ronaldo did exactly the same thing against Newcastle the other week.

Berbatov is excellent, a true genius, although i also agree Gus goes overboard in so boldly saying he is better than Bergkamp was. It is credit enough to Berbatov to be even comparable, but to dismiss Bergkamp as inferior without debate is a joke.

Also, i can't help wanting us to sign Benzema instead, we could be talking about possible Ronaldo levels here (fat one), strikers like that are so rare. At just 20, Benzema seems to have absolutely everything, and i reckon Fergie will try if it's possible, and probably even if it isn't.

That said, again, only he or Berbatov are worth getting at the moment, and i'd be equally as delighted if we got Berbatov instead, just that Benzema's age also makes him so much more appealing.

The thing about van Nistlerooy was that he was as slow as arseholes getting to the average ball, but put that ball in front of goal and he was suddenly two yards quicker.

He was a goalscorer.

Tevez was running rings around one of the teams we played lately.

I'd be more thorough with my argument but i'm confident you'll eat your words someday.

I'd be happy with either Berbatov or Benzema. I have barely seen Benzema, but the hype is fever pitch so he must be good.

Bergkamp was one of the very best footballers of his generation. Berbatov's good, but not that good.

True, that was similar. Not quite as spectacular but very good.

He's a good dribbler in the sense that he has brilliant close control and is damn hard to get the ball off. But no, he doesn't dribble past several players at a time.

Agree.

I just cant see us spending a lot on a striker this Summer considering that we will prob sign a RB and the Tevez fee isnt completed yet.

Benni McCarthy gets my vote for a number of reasons.

Agreed. I love Berbatov, but to say he is better than Bergkamp is stupid.

I think its obvious ferguson wants berbatov, all the stuff in January and the same goes for benzema but he seems stuborn to the fact he is staying at lyon for another year... Berbatov will give us everything we are looking for in a striker, he leads the line well and comes deep to devastating effect, perfect for how we play. He is just an amazing player and if he came to us i think he could go on and prove himself just like bergkamp did because he is a player who could go on till his mid 30s because his game is all about finesse guile and his amazing footballing brain. People worry that he is lazy but his Nonchalant style can be worked with especially in a team like ours, just imagine the amount of chances a team with rooney ronnie berba tevez anderson and nani will create.

Its obvious we need a real goalscorer. We have seen that neither of Rooney or Tevez are that type of strikers. They play a little bit behind the main striker.

I guess next season our forward line will change.

Manucho/Benzema, Berbatov or whoever.

Rooney or Tevez playing behind the main striker.

if not benzema, i would like to take a chance on mario gomez. super mario is shit hot for 2 years now, would be perfect to lead the line with.
