Trio eye Ajax ace
A trio of Premier League sides dispatched scouts to run the rule over Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at the weekend. The likes of Manchester United and City, along with Liverpool, all wanted to know how the Holland international is performing. They are unlikely to be have been disappointed with Huntelaar after he netted a brace in Ajax's convincing 6-1 romp over AZ Alkmaar. Huntelaar, 24, has been capped nine times by his country and has an impressive 55 goals from just 66 appearances for the Amsterdam giants following his switch from Heerenveen. The striker was not the only player to come under the microscope, with keeper Maarten Stekelenburg being watched again by a scout from Tottenham. Paul Robinson's future at White Hart Lane has come under question of late after being dropped by Juande Ramos, with Radek Cerny being given a chance between the sticks. Representatives from both Blackburn and Sunderland were also reportedly on hand to view Ajax's clash with AZ, although it remains unclear who they were watching. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...046685,00.html |

Saw Huntelaar here in Dublin and he was great, his pace didn't register one way or another but his positional sense and technique were outstanding ... looked like a striker as opposed to a footballer, there'd be very little chance of him dropping too deep ... |

I've never seen Huntelaar, but I was listening to two genuine cretins on the bus the other day, they were gooners, one of them wanted Arsenal to buy Huntelaar, the other said he wasn't a good enough footballer, could finish but would cock up their dinky little moves.

Berbatov. He is a proper united style player.

Deodorant is overrated. It seems that Madrid will sign Huntelaar.
Benzema wont move anywhere and Berbatov is staying at Spurs. Manucho is the only addition and waiting for work permit. |

Benzema would be class for United, but he's off elsewhere I think. I get the feeling he'd probably even stay at Lyon ahead of joining us.
Berbatov would cost a bomb but can you imagine how fucking good he'd be for us with the movement of players like Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez around him? He'd end the season with about 40 assists to his name. Would also give us another attacking option with the ability he has in the air. Only seen Huntelaar once or twice. He didn't impress me that much but I didn't really see enough of him to make an accurate judgement. Can't argue with his goalscoring over the last few seasons, though - phenomenal record. |

He also doesn't play the role we need, he very much plays the Rooney/Tevez role of going very deep. He's worth £10 million, maybe even £20 million , but 30 ? Not a chance. |

Imo , i reckon he would do well at United. Ronaldo is our best finisher by a mile but Huntelaar wouldn't be too far behind. If Benzema was an option than i'd obviously say lets go for him, but he won't be available this summer. Take a chance on "The Hunter" i say. |

or ronaldo in. The bit im saying you've got wrong is his ability to play the role we need. Yes he can drop off...but he's excellent leading the line. The fact he can do both is perfect for our team because there will need to be times when its rooney going beyond the other striker even if rooney is playing the second striker role. For spurs he drops off plenty, thats because robbie keane is all about balls over the top or more frequently down either side. He doesnt really drop off. Ive seen dimi play as a sole striker and the guy was immense. He can do either. The whole not bothered thing is deceptive. But id expect that element to improve if he moved to utd. Almost always does with this sort of character, partly because of our manager and partly because he wouldnt be the biggest fish in the pond. I usually do well second guessing ferguson when it comes to strikers..(my position for what its worth)...hence my real surprise at the tevez signing. Id be amazed if we dont try again to get the guy, He's got the assets to turn this team into a side up there with our other great sides. I know you get fed up with me going on about it because you dont think it will happen but the thread starter did ask!! I just hope it does, because very very quickly our fans will discover just how good he is/can be....and i say can be because id expect him to improve playing with better players day in day out. The only slight question mark i would have is he aint the quickest...nor is he the slowest but its always nice to have a bit of gas up there. His guile more than makes up for it though. Benzema (age factored in) or berbatov and i would be on cloud 10. ![]() |

As I say, the guy has class, infact he oozes class. But I do have my reservations about us signing him, those being price, speed, attitude (although I think that could well be the whole big fish in a small pond thing) and age. Had we got him 2 years ago for the price Spurs did, I'd be delighted, but hey, I'm sure he'd do a very good job for us, but then again, so would younger, cheaper players.
On the playing as the main striker, I'll take your word for it, for 2 reasons 1) You've seen far more of him than me 2) You know what your talking about and don't lie. |

I say just get it paid. How you can sit there and type a 20mil max for a key striker when we've paid 18 mil for the likes of hargreaves and carrick is beyond me.
GET IT PAID. |
