in the transfer market...obviously arsenal cannot match united...teams will always try to get the most out of united simply because they know united can afford it....
with arsenal theres now a mindset they dont spend big and teams generally dont try to ask alot from them,
its united problem and only they cant sort it out, the youth academy and reserves needs more technical direction, only when united start to bring 3-4 players through the ranks will they have no need to spend big..

I think the question we're all dying to ask is: who cares? We've won two leagues in a row and did the Premiership-Europe double last year. Who cares whether we've spent more money than Arsenal? As long as the club makes it's own money (ie not Chelsea), then there shouldn't be any sort of silly social stigma for actually spending it.

Berbatov is obviously the one SAF wants but I will be suprised if he didn't have a Plan B as well. If Plan B failed, then it would be no one IMO

I don't think that there were grounds for starting the argument in the first place Penny Crayon.

"Something about increasing Utds power or other or something"

It was clearly a bit of banter directed at Storey, who also enjoys it - as one who apparently copulates all over himself at the initial outcry, or response of an opposition supporter. That is my theory; it would explain his swift exit from discussions once his dirty entrapment tool is placed, and why he pretends to be offline - the subject matter immediately becomes a vulgar turn-off, similar to when you masturbate over something you know you shouldn't have. Dirty old fucker.

Belligerence is not a virtue.

Seconded. Anyone who doesn't wish to discuss Berbatov rumours should find another thread.

So who is it saying that winning the European Cup doesn't make a club more attractive to top players?

Can they please explain how they came to that conclusion?

i think that might be the case too, but i cant see the transfer window passing without us getting him even if it means him kicking up a fuss, im sure he has played his last game for tottenham, this is his last chance and he will want to take it, they must accept that for what he has done for the club and the way he has handled himself

TOTTENHAM will take a £5million hit to stop Dimitar Berbatov going to Manchester United.

Spurs are ready to let the Bulgarian strike ace join Barcelona or AC Milan for a cut-price £25m.

The Londoners had asked United to pay £30m before accusing them of unsettling their star player.

Spurs’ move is sure to further infuriate Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson following the war of words that kicked off between the two clubs last week over Berbatov.

Fergie hit back at Tottenham by branding them “hypocrites”.

United have made a £20m take-it-or-leave-it bid for Berba, who wants to quit White Hart Lane.

But Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola and Milan chief Carlo Ancelotti are keen admirers of the ex-Bayer Leverkusen star.

Barca ace Samuel Eto’o holds the key.

The Catalan giants will only move for Berbatov, 27, if they can persuade the Cameroon striker to leave.

Milan are also waiting to find out if they can land Eto’o before making a bid for Berbatov.

No amount of money in the world could persuade Eto'o to join Spurs

I'm not sure how selling him to Milan for £25 million while United offered £20 million is Tottenham taking a £5 million hit. Particularly not if United's bit was in fact a 'take-it-or-leave-it' bid, as the article suggests. Then it'd be the opposite.

Oh, and the Sun.

That's no different to what the papers have been saying all along about Spurs intentions. They have said for weeks that there was one price for an English team and another one 5-10 million cheaper for a team on the continent.

I can't see Barcelona or AC Milan putting in a bid of 25 million when United's bid has been rumoured at 20 million. If Levy wants to piss off United he may have to accept a bid a lot lower than 25 million.

Obviously they will give a 15% discount to teams from continent simply because they don't want Berbatov playing against them. It's not like Barcelona or Milan are going to offer them that kind of money though so it's beyond question.

If Barca or Milan know United bid for 20 million, so why they can't they go lower than that knowing Spurs have a preference?

So do United have a plan B e.g. the Hunter?

Milan won't buy Eto'o, come on, they had no money before they bought Ronaldinho (who is a Berlusconi plaything). Another ageing star wouldn't do them any good, they need to invest heavily in some young players, and they have started to. Another reason why i can't see Milan going fro Eto'o is because of the famous spat he had with Ronaldinho, no north Italian would be so stupid as to do that. If anything, Milan are still in the hunt for Adebayor, who is younger and not all that much more expensive. Eto'o will probably end up staying, his demands and attitude seem to have worked against him, the only team now realstically would be Inter - though i think Mourinho might have his reservations about this prick.

I should imagine that Anty Kat is a Spurs supporter, probably in the yuppy London scene, might even know somebody at the club. It seems like a sneaky ploy to make us up the price and hurry the deal through, Spurs are getting itchy because they are sitting on a player and Ramos wants a budget.

As i said earlier, i doubt Milan or Barca are in for him.

The press is second guessing, one moment it's done deal, the next moment it's not. Remember Hargreaves? Bayern kicked up a fuss after the Sun published a picture of Hargreaves together with an United S.O. Later we understood the deal hit a snag as Nistelrooy opted for Madrid. So, in Spur's case, they think it's about the transfer fee.

Milan will not spend any more money this year. Galliani himself said so. They added two forwards to their team (Borriello and Ronaldinho) to replace Gilardino and Ronaldo and look set to start the season with Borriello/Pato, Ronaldinho and Kaka upfront.

I dont know about Barcelona but I think that their eyes are set to Adebayor.

Maybe we are looking only at Berbatov because of the fact that he offers us that different option that we lack and also because he has proved himself in the premiership.

If we dont have a plan b then I would be dissapointed. We cant keep on relying on Saha for cover.

Paper's seem to suggest that SAF isn't desperate for a striker and that we don't need a Plan B. After all, we did win the Premiership and the CL last season. We also scored more goals than any other team in the league.

Players like Nani, Anderson, Tevez and Fletcher will/should be better. And the likes of Campbell, Welbeck, Evans and Gibson will be like new signings.
