Bobo Vieri

Has agreed to sign a £10,000 per week contract with Hull City.

One of the best striker of his generation, worldclass on his day. Isn't he like 37 now or something? Looked way past it when he played for Fiorentina in the UEFA cup.

I remember a few years ago when Chelsea wanted to sign him and i was bricking it, he was made for the premier league but it's a bit too late for him now. Shame we didn't get to see him in his prime over on these shores.

34 now. A bit of a nomad, Hull's his 14th different club in under twenty years.

Phenomenal player for Inter, always one of my favourites. Will be great to see him in the Premier League

Not really, he's finished as a player.

Really, I think he was only that effective for a few seasons, he was top quality for a period of four years or so, but he was incognito up until the age of around 26, then faded from the scene this past five years also...
He actually grew up around this suburb I am in now, Bossley Park in Western Sydney, I'm round at my inlaws, was in my wife's school albeit a feew years older. They fucked off back to Italy when his dad realised how good his son was at football

I know, but then if he wasn't he wouldn't be playing or Hull and therefore wouldn't be playing in the Premier League. It will still be great to see him here though as he is one of my all time favourite players. Just as it would still be great to see Zidane play here. To be honest I would also be pretty excited if I heard Roberto Baggio and Gabriel Batistuta had just signed for Stoke and West Brom respectively. Its always great when a great of the game joins your league

That is a very good signing for Hull. They need a lot more players with top league experience. Why do you think he's finished as a player? Bobo have been the same player the past 8 years. There was even talks about adding him to the euro squad. He's going to be a real good asset to the club with his headers and goal scoring abillity.

Yes, he's well and truly past his prime. But that doesn't matter ... Its Hull that he's playing for .... they could do with his experience and knowledge of playing at the top level. Great buy for them.
Looks like they're trying to get Stelios as well.

Might work out ok for hull,

I hate the way all these "one time superstars" only come to the premiership at the end of their career just for a payday, I wish they would man up and come in their prime when the offer is there!

Looks like Phil thinks he may have learnt a thing or two from big Sam by trying to make good use out of older players such as Stelios, Okocha, Windass, Barmby and now Vieri.

I'm sure his career is nearly finished buy he has to be better than 40 year old Dean Windess.

There are those of us who know what it's like having a small local club to support. A name like Vieri in Hull is rather outstanding. Remember these guys would be happy with signings like Richardson and crap that we throw away. I cannot see Bobo being very happy in this club with his ambitions. In Italy he's more or less allowed to go on like a baby, arguing with the ref and so on. There is no way it will be tolerated here and we will see if he's smart enough to understand it. I predict a red card or two for this man during his staying. A few elbows, some headbutting, a push around and some arguing with the ref.

I'd bet on Windass putting Vieri to shame next season. Even though Windass is and always has been quite useless, Vieri looks utterly useless these days unfortunately. It was quite sad to see the level his ability had dropped to last season.

Official: Vieri Signs For Atalanta

Vieri played for the Bergamaschi in 1996 before being snapped up by Juventus. He returned to the club 10 years later but he hardly played for them, making only seven appearances and scoring two goals. He moved to Fiorentina last term on a one-year deal and he has now rejoined the Nerazzurri after being released by La Viola.

Reports earlier claimed that the former Atletico Madrid hit-man had agreed a £10,000 per week deal with Hull City of the English Premier League but Atalanta have moved in quickly and they will be looking forward to having Vieri back to his best next season.

A statement on the club’s official website reads:

“Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio would like to communicate that the club have gained the rights to Christian Vieri for the 2008/09 season.”

The 34-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the club and it is believed he has taken a massive pay cut also.

The player is getting closer to retirement and he is hoping to have one last jingle in Serie A with the Bergamo based outfit.

Atalanta just missed out on the UEFA Cup last season and Vieri may be the man to fire them into Europe next term.

Really? I always thought he was born in Italy but just lived in Oz for a while when he was younger. It was his younger brother he was born in Australia, hence why he played for your lot

Born in Bologna, Italy, his family moved to Australia for a period, in the suburb of Wetherill Park. He attended Prairiewood High School in western Sydney. His father Roberto Vieri played for Sydney-based club Marconi Stallions. His brother, Massimiliano Vieri, is also a professional footballer, and was an Australian international in 2004. Vieri played for Marconi Juniors when he was a child but his family soon moved back to Italy.

- Bah, you're right. Still wish he played for us though the dirty itie traitor scumrat
