Christian Eriksen

United 'Keeping Tabs' On Christian Eriksen - United Latest

United Latest understands that Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid, Christian Eriksen, is being closely monitored by United. The 18-year-old Danish youngster has made a huge impression in the Netherlands after signing from Odense Boldklub in late 2008. Eriksen has recently signed a new deal, but The Reds may make a move regardless.

Eriksen widely improved last season, making 15 appearances and scoring one goal. The stats may seem insignificance, but Arsenal are also in the race to receive his signature. The rising star is said to be worth over £7 Million - he signed for Ajax aged 16 - costing €1 Million back in 2008.

Morten Olsen has kept Eriksen for Denmark's final 23-man squad heading to South Africa next week. The young talent signed a four-year deal with Ajax in April, but the contract was regarded as a stunt to higher his price-tag. The dominating factor will be the World Cup - wheter or not Eriksen impresses - that remains to be seen, but if he does it will no doubt further increase his worth...

The lad's class, whether he has the potential to be a starter for a club as big as United is questionable though.

One of the biggest Danish talents to come through in a very long time. He's very strong technically - Scholesy would love him - and he just seems to have that bit of extra flair and magic that none of the other players in the national team has.

Only seen a bit of him but he's got great technique and pace, certainly seems the kind of player weer are going for nowadays.

Anyone seen him play?

I am always amazed at how it is so easily missed to mention what position a player plays in when you read such kind of reports...

Henry Winter says Arsenal have been tracking him. Looks like United have been linked with him for a long time as well though.

He's class.

How come his name hasn't been on the lips/keyboards of all our resident transfer muppets for months now?

I'd guess it's because most clubs trust Ajax to develop him better than they could.

Just a guess, I know I would.

If he became available i'd love us to stick a sneaky bid in. Granted this is based almost entirely on one game, but Top seems to rate him so that's good enough for me.

Liverpool were in for him when they got Suarez. Apparently they could not work out a deal to bring him in the January transfer window.

You'd think so but that didn't stop us signing Van Helzen (or whatever the feck his name is)

Recentish.

Poached from their academy, so a much lower profile signing than this lad would be.

They're jizzing over him on the radio, they've literally mentioned how promising he is about 10 times.

Looks quality but what is most disappointing is how Jack Wiltshire ended up at arsenal. Especially given our current cm options.

You should probably google the FA's 90 minute rule.

Wilshere would have been a good replacement for Scholes given different circumstances.

This Erikson lad looks the tits on tonight's showing. That backheel lay-off in the box was sublime.

He was very good last season where he got his breakthrough, going from sub to starter under Jol and creating a lot of buzz.

Unfortunately he failed to recreate this form in the first part of this season which saw him being benched quite often, and there was a lot of talk here in Denmark about his underachieving fall.

But this has all changed since De Boer replaced Jol. Eriksen's been excellent the last couple months by all accounts, which he himself credits getting to play in his favourite "number 10" role as well as De Boer's style being more like the one they practise in the youth teams where as Jol's style was more English.

Like I said before the WC in this thread: He's the most exciting player we've had probably since the Laudrups. Or at least the most technical gifted. We don't develop a lot of players like that here, so he's been very highly rated for a while now.

He really did give England all sorts of problems tonight. I have seen him play before as well for Ajax. He is the type of player we kinda need right now to replace Scholes. We need someone to run the show and I think with time, he will be great at doing that.
