He'd be perfect for us if we played him behind the striker, he is not a central midfielder, so you'd be barking up the wrong tree if you think he'd solve our midfield issues!
I'd love him here because he is a great player, but he won't be as good as he can be if he ends up being reschooled into central midfield like anderson imo! He'll never end up being played in his best position, at least not while Rooney is here I'd say.. |

Big Ajax fan here. First let me say that I think that Eriksen is fantastic. However, he's not the player that United need. Eriksen is a trequartista in the mould of Ajax players Bergkamp, Van der Vaart, Sneijder & Suarez.
Basically: be plays the role that Rooney plays for United. Eriksen is certainly talented, but he doesn't create enough chances for Ajax yet. He isn't the Eredivisie assist king and he doesn't score enough goals. The lad has it in his head that he is going to follow in Laudrup's footsteps and he'll be an integral part of Barcelona's next dream team. That is unlikely. Eriksen might move to Barcelona and fail (and move on to AC Milan within 6 months) or he might have a more meaningful legacy. Time will tell. In the mean time, if United is really interested in recruiting a technically capable midfielder who will be able to withstand the physicality of the Premier League, you muppets might take a look at Eyong Enoh. He is drastically underrated in Holland (much like Cheick Tioté was with FC Twente) because in the Netherlands a Makélelé-type is considered a crippled footballer. I predict that if Martin Jol & Fulham manage to sign Enoh for 5 million euro, his value will double in 6 months. He is bottom right in this picture: ![]() Wait... is that...? Yes it is :P |

Eriksen won't leave Ajax yet because he'll want to develop his game and mature as a footballer there with plenty of first team football both in league and Europe. He's smart to do so as he is still very young.

Chill out. Big Ajax fan, posts suggest he either doesn't frequent the forum much or has recently been promoted and wanted to share his opinion. Don't see what's wrong with that.
Personally I like to read more about peoples opinions on players rather than the thread being bumped by nonsense transfer gossip. |

Was it so necessary to click on a thread if you don't care about the player? It's a player that has been linked to United on previous occasions and the poster wanted to share his thoughts on the possible transfer.

Why do you think that his mind is set on Barca though? From what I've heard he's a nice and humble lad. One of my mates met him at a new years eve party a few years ago (when he was just breaking through at Ajax), and he had a long chat with him about football and such - seemed very down to earth, from what I was told. I don't think he'd go anywhere if he didn't think he'd have a realistic chance of getting playing time. I'm not sure if he's needed at United though. As I see it Morrison can play the role he does (if he decides to stay) and as you say we've already got Rooney who can play it too. I'm pretty sure Eriksen has a bright future though, and as a Dane I'm looking forward to following his career for the next 15 years or so. |

I've had opportunity to watch Eriksen play a few time when on business in amsterdam, and he generates excitement whenever he gets the ball at his feet. I kinda reminded me of when whole stadium would stand up for giggs when he started a run down the left wing, and i think Eriksen could bring such excitement to OT. |

Nothing about this player surprised me.
Not as technical as we would like players to be. And no end product. Even if you look at his promotional video on Youtube you can see that he can't score! He bottles it when it comes to actually scoring. Not the right mentality for us. |

Didn't Cleverley get a lot of MoM recognition? He was no worse than Cleverley was. Made the most of what he had really. Ajax's striker did absolutely nothing. Don't think I saw him touch the ball with his feet.
Ajax simply not good enough to play their own game against us. |

He counter attacked us pretty much on our own at one point. He's a decent player. I really have little else to add, other than I could see us going for him.

Was one of the best players on the pitch I thought, constantly found space in behind the midfield even though you could see Carrick was keeping a close eye on him. Pretty surprised to see anyone say he's not very technical, touch looked very good today as it has every time I've seen him. Dutch newbies said he's a bit inconsistent so I was half-expecting him to underwhelm but I think he'd have impressed Sir Alex.
People have raved about Ramsey and Cleverley for a lot less. |
