Roma’s Daniele de Rossi may leave the Serie A giants at the end of the season, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool all said to be monitoring the situation.

Roma have struggled all season in the league and are unlikely to qualify for next season’s Champions League, as a result the Giallorossi’s hierarchy are already planning for the financial aftermath meaning a number of their top earners may leave the Stadio Olimpico.

De Rossi is one of the best central midfielders in Europe, and all of the top four clubs in England, as well as Manchester City have shown an interest in the Italian international.

Inter Milan have reportedly already put in a bid of €40 million for the player, however initial speculation suggests the player would favour a move to either Spain or England.

Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito told 24oredisport: “The club is in a very difficult situation. I expect two or three significant departures.”

“Without a doubt Philippe Mexes will leave, the other could be Simone Perrotta. If a great offer arrived for De Rossi, I think the vice-captain could also be sold.”

Fantastic player, but I don't think he will leave Roma. De Rossi that is.

I can't see it. It'd be like Scholes suddenly telling us he wanted to leave after one season without Champions League football.

De Rossi is a wonderful player. I think he'd get a game for any team in the world. Two great feet, a great range of passing, a good shot from distance, a good header of the ball and has drive and fight and is always willing to put the tackles in. A perfect all rounder.

Perfect for Arsenal. He's the true leader they need in the middle.

It seems mandatory that our name goes in whenever a few clubs are bidding for / interested in a player, regardless of the truth

He and Fabergas could be a fairly impressive combination

Mexes was only ever good on Football Manager.

De Rossi would be a good signing for someone.

Him leaving Roma will likely depend on how critical the financial situation becomes. It would be tough choice for him and something he'd need to talk through with Rosella Sensi before deciding if he must sacrifice himself if you will.

If any English club should be leading the pack to sign him, surely Arsenal? But they'd need to part with some serious cash, so perhaps not eh.

He'd be perfect for United. The only person capable of emanating Keane since Essien won't be leaving Chelsea anytime soon.

I dont think Fergie admires him now, especially after Mexes snubbed United in favour of Roma when he was leaving Auxere (i think). He wanted guarantee's that he'd always play & Fergie told him no chance!

Mexes actually said that himself when he explained why he snubbed a few teams including us. He's not that great anyway, so its not our loss by any means!

We already have enough central midfielders...

Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Hargreaves (Scholes, Giggs, Gibson, Possebon).

I'd prefer to stick with developing Fletcher/Anderson and giving Gibson/Possebon a chance.

I think the Arsenal fans need to start begging Wenger to put a bid in for him. He'd be quality for you Ceks.

------------VDS-----------
Brown-Ferdinand-Vidic-Evra
-De Rossi-Carrick-Anderson-
-Ronaldo-Berbatov-Rooney-

That's about as complete a side one could ask for. Near perfection. I guess the only thing missing would be a powerhouse true center forward like Eto'o or Ruud. Could even try this to allow Anderson a free role... or even push Ronaldo to CF and Anderson and Rooney could operate the flanks.

Brown-Ferdinand-Vidic-Evra
-----De Rossi--Carrick-----
Ronaldo-Berbatov-Anderson
----------Rooney----------

True that,

however De Rossi is like a better version of Carrick.

he will never leave Roma, he is to Roma what Raul is to Real and Del Piero is to Juve. Came up through their youth system, his dad is a coach for the youth team, he's heir to the throne...future leader and captain once Totti is done

Actually it's rumoured that by night, De Rossi fights crime around Rome using a series of increasingly elaborate high tech gadgets from the distant future, and the Italian media have dubbed this mystery man 'Captain Futuro'.

If Arsenal don't put in a bid it shows once and for all their lack of ambition. He's THE player they need in THE position they need it most with THE attitude needed to take Arsenal up a level.

Do they have balls? No.

Think he'd be an upgrade of Yaya if he wanted to go to Spain. Liverpool wont need him they're going for Barry (), Chelsea have Essien, wouldn't mind him here but that'd depend on Hargreave's condition and Real are occupied with getting Ronaldo or Cesc these days to buy quality players.

If Man City went for him, it would double his price. We'd never pay it anyway in my opinion.

De Rossi is versatile, he's box to box. He can sit in front of a back 4 and knit passing long and short or he can get into the box, get into wide areas. I really admire him as a player (apart from when he's kicking shit out of people and elbowing).
