Back on thread topic: I'd be hugely surprised if Man. United go for Ashton - it would be a huge come down after all the talk of Berbatov, Benzema, Huntelaar etc.

When i saw that over head strike the other day i thought hed be an ideal 3rd coice striker for us. then i saw he got injured and realised he may be injury prone-the exact thing were looking to get away from, especially in the striker department.

He went down a bit hard and bruised his arse, you can't really help that

He's fine now and was able to play the full 90 minutes he would have just been in discomfort

He is not injury prone, impact injuries can happen to any player regardless of their fitness etc Ashton has just been unfortunate with them

I doubt it, as mentioned earlier in the thread when I was trying to get his signature another fan asked him who he supported, he said Liverpool

He doesn't mention he supports Liverpool in the media as he is a professional and you can imagine all the rumours it will spark. Though there is no problem with saying he supported Manchester United as a child.

with roon, ronnie, tevez, i think we should sign a good (not necessarily the best) striker, so ashton fits the bill
repeated for several times, we are one of the best teams but it does not mean we need to sign all the best players
what we need are good players fitting us e.g. cole, yorke, ole, teddy, cantona, ruud, ronnie, etc
when we signed them, they are not the best players known to the world but they turned out to be history creator, so why ashton is not good enough to us

No idea, I don't watch Sky Sports News and there is nothing on their website, the bloke who write the article though is a politician / reporter so I doubt he will be lying about it being on Sky sports News for everyone to read

After hearing Curbishleys comments I don't think he will go especially not for 10 million, Ashton has scored 10 goals in 13 starts this season thats worth more than 10 million.

I think he will have a new contract on the table by the end of the week and judging by Ashtons comments he will sign it

Have a laugh, if he goes for 10 million we was robbed, 12 million would be the least we should take. With strong interest from Portsmouth, Newcastle and Sunderland too we should be looking for 15 million.

As long as we offer him a new contract (about 40kpw which is over double his current wages) he'll stay

I'd say he'll stay and a have a great season for you next year, but if you don't qualify for a european competition by this time next year and a big club sniffs around you'll get a nice price for him. As i see it he will be the established english number 10 and will probably not be happy if you loiter in mid-table next season.

That said i see you finishing 6th maybe with right signings, so we shall see.

I don't think we need to concentrate on new signings really

Next seaosn we will be able to play

Thats not a bad a squad at all we just haven't been able to play it, if we can improve some of the back up players aswell i.e. Boa Morte out and a new left winger in, Zamora out and a young striker in etc. We will have a very good squad.

I think the above squad with a few new faces should be more than capable of challenging for Europe especially if a top 4 team wins the league cup and two top 4 teams are the finalsits in the FA Cup. That would mean places 5-7 will be UEFA Cup and 8th the Intertoto.

Yes it will be close between us, I think it is all going to come down to each team keeping their best players i.e.

Portsmouth - James & Defoe

Spurs - Berbatov and Keane

Everton - Cahill and Arteta

Villa - Barry and getting Carson in permanently

Newcastle - Owen and Martins

West Ham - Ashton, Parker and Green

As for Curbishley I want to see what he can do now with a decent squad that hopefully will be injury free
