Eagles To Burnley?

http://www.clarets-mad.co.uk/news/lo...TMNW&id=397157

Quote:
Yesterday Owen Coyle suggested there could be a second signing alongside Remco van der Schaaf and we believe this could be a record signing with the player targeted Manchester United winger Chris Eagles.

The 22-year-old Eagles has never been able to establish himself in the Manchester United side and has made just two Premier League starts for them. However, he does have experience at Championship level in two loan spells with Watford sandwiching a loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

He's made over 50 league appearances and once scored for Sheffield Wednesday on the Turf on New Year's Eve 2005.

The speculation now is that Eagles could be set to land at Turf Moor in a permanent deal that could set the Clarets back a fee of up to £1.5 million including a series of add ons. There is though one other club in the chase for Eagles but we should know soon enough whether the Hemel Hempstead born player is set to become Owen Coyle's sixth signing.

Would be a good team for him to play for. Needs to move on now, for the good of his career.

To be fair, Burnley have made a few decent signings this year. It'd be a good move for him.

They've got money too, after selling Lafferty.

No point in keeping Eagles. £1.5 million is a decent amount of money for him.

£1.5m plus adds-on is a really good value for a player with no Premiership experience, he spent the last year not playing at all.

I just noticed your post. If £500k is really dependable on their promotion then I wouldn't really count on it as Burnley are not good enough to be up there, as for appearances... Well, I'm not even fully convinced he will get to play regularly there but that should come out well, so it's basically a £1m offer.

I think it's clear that Fergie doesn't think Eagles is first team material or he would have been given more chances.

But we would be looking short on the wings: I love Giggsy but I think his wing days are over, I'm not sure if Park ever was a winger, plus he might have a fucked knee anyway - I may be the only one here but I do seriously think we need another winger.

I'm not sure how they will spread the add ons , but "up to £1.5 million including a series of add ons" doesnt sound like a lot of money straight up

he's better than the edwards guy sunderland have ... why cant some league side take him for 1.5-2m

Honestly there isn't much difference for me between £1m we get and £1.5m we could get. It's about as much as Rio or Ronaldo earn per month and it makes no difference to how much we will be able to spend.

I like Eagles, it'd be a shame to see him go but its for the best.
We have Ronaldo, Park, Nani and Giggs. We'll probably bring in another player when Giggs does call it a day.

Deserves a Premier League club. He's got far too much technique and skill for the Championship. Had big hopes for him, he had a great pre-season last summer, scoring some nice goals and that coming back of the goal at Goodison in basicly our Championship sealing match and a start vs Chelsea, it really looked like he's finally going to break through and make it. It wasn't to be though, which is a big shame. Another good English talent replaced by a forigner.

Honestly the only two clubs who will play in the Premiership next year and may want Eagles are Stoke and Hull, and they will both probably go down straightaway as they are not Premiership standard.

He never looked like making it at United to be honest. The goal against Everton was class but he was a tactical substitution in that match and we played our third string side at Stamford with Kieran Lee and Dong on the pitch as well. He didn't impress.

Burnley these days seem to play football on the deck so he should fit in well there. They need a really good striker as well and they could get promoted.

Eagles leaving us is beginning to look very likely:

Burnley keen on Eagles

Burnley manager Owen Coyle is hoping to complete a deal for Manchester United winger Chris Eagles.

The Clarets are prepared to pay a club-record fee for the 22-year-old, but admit they face competition from another club.

Eagles has found opportunities limited at Old Trafford since making his debut in October 2003, and has not made a first-team appearance since last December.

He could cost Burnley more than the £1.3million they recently paid Scunthorpe for striker Martin Paterson, but Coyle believes it would be money well spent.

"It's a bit complicated in that there is another club interested in him, but he has real quality," Coyle said.

"We had a terrific meeting with him and his representative, obviously with permission from his club, because there would be a big fee involved in that."

Good technique but thats about it, disappears alot in games. Did well for Watford but was pretty poor for wednesday (club in turmoil at the time though). Best of lucky to the shaper, I'll always remember his bandy run when scoring that goal against Everton!

Right, he needs to play CM in a side who plays football to really use his obvious talent.
