Only 14... and on the brink of his dreams
Only 14... and on the brink of his dreams: Man Utd poised to sign footie ace Elliot from Leeds
A 14-year-old Sowerby Bridge schoolboy is on the brink of his wildest dreams. Manchester Utd are poised to sign raw talent Elliot Kebbie from Leeds United's academy. The Hipperholme Grammar School youngster has been invited for trials at Old Trafford. Reports suggest the signing could net him £1 million and catapult him into huge earnings in the future. A host of other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool, want the midfielder but the world and European champions are in pole position after Elliot stalled on re-signing for Leeds. If League One side Leeds do lose the starlet they will be entitled to compensation from his new club. Elliot is an all-round athlete who last week clocked 11.5 seconds for the 100 metres at Spring Hall, Halifax, which put him close to national honours. He is described as level-headed and dedicated to his football and sport. He regularly attends the Workhout Warehouse gym in Halifax and avoids junk food and fizzy drinks. His mum, Maggie Goodyear, and grandma Shirley Gannon, also of Sowerby Bridge, regularly attend his Leeds United training sessions at Thorp Arch, near Wetherby. Elliot is an only child, brought up by his mum. He also attended Withinfields Primary School, Southowram, and Bradford Grammar School before moving to Hipperholme last year. He has been with Leeds since he was eight. Leeds United were unavailable for comment and Manchester United said they would not confirm anything until the deal was done. *** Article from the Reserve/Youth Forum http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news...the.5259076.jp |

Yep this is correct. It's decided by an FA panel. It's based on how much time he's spent at Leeds, his future potential etc, it's in place to protect the smaller clubs
At 14 I wouldn't say the fee would even be £500K, even less most likely.

England U-16 call for Kebbie
HIPPERHOLME Grammar School student Elliot Kebbie has been called up in to the England under-16 squad. The 14-year-old, who is also a leading schoolboy athlete, is with Leeds United Academy although he is currently being courted by Everton after they saw him playing for Manchester United in a tournament in Holland in the spring. While playing in Holland – with the blessing of the Yorkshire club's academy boss Neil Thompson – Elliot injured an but not before he whetted the appetite of the Goodison Park contingent. However, it looks at this stage of the talented youngster's career that Manchester United have called off their involvement as word has it they "would be fleeced" at an FA tribunal as Leeds United would definitely take them to one after coaching him for the past seven years. Everton, according to his mother, Ms Maggie Goodyear, don't appear fazed by the the prospect and just feel the `boy' is "different class". "He is very happy at Leeds and has been through to see them in the past week to sign papers to go to Burton-on-Trent and join up with the England squad, and he actually played for their under-16s last Saturday against Wolverhampton Wanderers and had a very good game. They have asked him if he is available to play another game this Saturday. "However, Everton are keen and would even come and collect him for training and return him safely to our Sowerby Bridge home, but for now his mother is taking him and he is not making any decision. "We will just see how he fares with the England squad although he is likely to be the youngest player there," she added. Elliot's cousin, nine-year-old Lahia Kebbie, who is on Fulham's Academy books for the under-10s, has been up from London for a few days and on Tuesday evening went to Leeds United and joined in with their under-12 academy squad, impressing those in charge at Thorp Arch in the process. |

Man Utd finally get English wonderkid
Manchester United have been trying to poach the England U16 midfielder Elliot Kebbie from Leeds United for well over 18 months now, and it is now being reported by the Daily Mail that they have finally persuaded the Sowerby Bridge youngster to make the move to Old Trafford.
Kebbie has been watched by many clubs scouts over the last couple of years, including Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea, but it seems that Alex Ferguson’s team have finally got the nod. The Leeds youngster, who goes to a grammar school in Hipperholme, was especially noted for running 100 metres in 11.5 seconds when he was just 14 years old. Although he will sign a youth contract at Old Trafford, Leeds will be expected to claim up to £1m from Man Utd from a compensation tribunal after training him since he was 8 years old, unless the two clubs can come to a mutual agreement, probably based on bonuses if he reaches the Man United first team or becomes a full England international. I also remember Chelsea ransacking Leeds a few years ago for Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods, they are now both stranded in the lower leagues. I'd hazard a guess we'll be more caring in our development of this lad than they were though. |

I think if this lad goes to barca youth, it will be VERY interesting to see how he develops.
I am fully behind the lad in this decision to expand his footballing education and experience and trying the continent at such a young age. Very rare for an english talent. That said, do barca have to even nick our own youth targets from us? |
