Fletcher to everton ?

Moyes In Bid For Fletch
David Moyes is in talks with Manchester United aimed at tempting them to sell Darren Fletcher. The Everton boss is preparing an official £4million bid for the midfielder, who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford. Moyes wants to kick off his summer spending by signing Fletcher, who played a significant part in United claiming the Premier League crown last season. He sees Scotland international Fletcher as a major player in Everton’s bid to crack the top four after his team narrowly missed out on Champions League football to arch-rivals Liverpool. Fletcher, 24, will be reluctant to move away from the current European and domestic champions. But fellow Scot Moyes believes he can offer him a package to rival the £25,000-a-week he picks up at United.

Does he really only earn 25k a week? That's a bit little even for a squad player. He deserves a bit better. And 4 mil is just having a laugh.

Fletcher is worth way more than £4 million. He is so underrated it is untrue. In any case, his big-game performances and his flexibility mean that he is not going to be sold.

Feck off Moyes.

If Barry can go for 18 a more cultured player in Fletch should go for 25.

Captain of his country, CL experience..

Why? He doesn't even play for them and he's been a massive failure at Valencia.

Would be a good move for Fletcher but it's from the Sun, it's probably bollocks.

Fletcher should go. I really like him, but at 24 he needs to be starting more games. Unless we have major injuries, his chances this season will again be limited.

Does anyone know how long Fletcher has served in his contract? Because if he's 3-years into it then he can buy himself out for just over £2.5m following the Webster ruling.

EDIT: According to Soccernet - "In October 2005, Fletcher earned a new contract to run until the summer of 2009."

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players...=8871&&cc=5739

If he's still under this contract then he'll be able to buy himself out of it for £1.25m.

webster only kicks in if the player in question makes a move to a league outside of the one he is currently in.

so yes, fletch could move on a webster to scotland.

but seriously do you see fletch moving to spain or italy?

he's like wayne, he'll never leave the UK.

We can't let him leave. He is a very important member of the squad. I have genuine belief in his ability. When Scholesy retires he will have a big role to play for us. I rate his passing ability.

It's 3 years if under 28, 2 years if over.

Wrong, I'm afraid. The age limit merely affects the length of the 'protected period'. For players under 28 it's 3-years, for players over 28 it's 2-years.

EDIT:As esmufc07 points out the post above this one!

Too quick for you Ralphie!

In any case I doon't think he will leave, he may perhaps wait utill January and see if he is getting anymore games than he did last season and then make a decision.

Hope he stays though, fantastic player for us and never fails to perform at a big game.

If your between 23 and 28 and have served 3 out of a 4/5 year contract, then the rule also applies.

If your over 28, then you only need to serve 2 years.

Contract ends in 2009? I havent' heard any noises of him being offered a new one either. He'll be free to talk to new clubs in December... I guess its a case of either offer him a new deal or sell him now. I'd rather we kept him but its isn't up to me.

Everton isn't a bad choice. Solid well managed club. Moyes will probably manage Scotland someday.

The low value of the offer has probably got to do with the fact that he can move for free next year.

I can't be sure that his contract ends in 2009, you'd have thought the club would have got him to sign an extension as the Webster case outcome has been pretty clear for over 12-months now.

It's just that I couldn't find anything after his 2005 contract on the web. Any help much appreciated!
