Exactly what Swans needed for a late season boost. Great signing, hope they make it permanent

I thought he was there or thereabouts at Reading I surprised no PL club picked him up and more surprised he hasn't done it Germany (given he's back).

What's so absurd about that? Of course he's biased. He said he'd love him here. Didn't express his opinion weather it's the right choice or not.

He'd be good enough to become a bench player. He'd bring something to the team which none of our current players do. But his best position doesn't fit our tactic.

First season in the Championship. Best player at his club and top scorer.
First season in the Bundesliga. Best player at his club and top scorer.
First season in the Premier League and not even match fit. Swansea fans are loving him and his contribution has been very good.

Watch Zaha one time play against us in a cup match doing one trick which in the end didn't amounted to nothing. Lot of people here wan't to sign him.

At least Gylfi makes sense because he's as professional as Giggs is with his work and has does about as much extra training like Beckham did to excel at set pieces and passing.

Rangnick bought him. Gylfi was their best player last season and their top goal scorer despite his number of sub appearances. New coach comes in with weird order and communication. Gylfi is injured in pre-season. Didn't come back to full training until October.

Hoffenheim is a weird club. They've let their best players go for very little and you don't exactly know who calls the shots there. They let Luis Gustavo go to Bayern and messed up Ba and he ended up leaving for peanuts. Obasi is currently on loan at Schalke.

I got to speak with Gyfli about 14 months ago when he was back home in Iceland during the German league winter break. The club hadn't even established when training would resume. Communication there with players is minimal and I don't think he feels the club is professional enough. He's bred for England anyways.

Well, we had a lot of good (fit) midfielders at the time so he went in the same bag as Sessegnon for me (nice player but do we need another one of those?) with Rosicky and Benayoun getting game time the answer looks like 'yes' with hindsight.

At least with Gylfi you know his head is in the right place. He's definitely the English crowd favorite kind of type. We Icelanders love him because finally we have a guy who can deliver a super dangerous ball into the box from a set piece 19 times out of 20, with all the big players we've got, and can shoot from a free kick from 40 yards out. He's also got that technique to get past player because he uses his head to make up for his lack of acceleration.

I'm not gonna go into a debate if he's good enough for a top club right now. I don't care. I just enjoy seeing him do so well where ever he goes and in the Premier League it's easier to follow up on him than in Germany.

Now some team only needs to buy Kolbeinn from Ajax. Perhaps he'll start against us in the EL so we can catch a glimps.

We had Albert Guðmundsson back in 1946 and of course the mighty-thighed Siggy Jónsson, who was always injured.

My grandpa and Albert Guðmundsson were best friends. He was the best player Iceland had ever had for decades. The white pearl we called him. He was a no nonsense character and there are great stories about him. My dad knew him a bit and knows loads of stories. No other Icelandic footballer has impressed me as much.

You also had a guy called Ólafur Ingi Skúlason. He only played one game as a sub and never was good enough. Perhaps they were hoping he'd be a non injury prone Siggy but he was always injured as well and really not good enough.

You should be supporting Arsenal then. I thought we still had Skúlason but it looks as if he's gone. Siggy looked great in his few appearances, real powerhouse DM.

Well, my dad isn't big on sports. I follow started following United through my brother and kind of grew up with them. I don't know why he followed them. He's only 3 years older than me. I think he got some knock off 1991 shirt with Giggs on it. The emergence of Cantona then made him a fan. It's weird because there was no family influencing his decision and United weren't even champions.

But yea, if my dad had been into football I'm quite sure I'd been an Arsenal fan. I'd fit in better because all my best mates are Arsenal fans.

It's hereditary with all of them. One dad in the the Arsenal club, another has an uncle who gave him Arsenal stuff. That's how most kids catch on here. But you always have the 10 year olds who switch teams just because.

Guðjohnsen turned a fair few to Chelsea and managed to sway some to Tottenham as well. My girlfriend and her family are all Liverpudlians. They like to gloat when United lose no matter how bat their situations is. Despite all that the youngest sibling is a Tottenham fan and also supports the Icelandic rival of the team the rest of the family supports.

I never said it was absurd, I told him to steady on and that it's plain to see he must be Icelandic.

From what I've seen he's not good enough for United. Will he be one day? Maybe. Who knows.

No need to be so defensive because you're also Icelandic

He fits in well at Swansea, he's a footballer with a, wait for it, fine football brain. Hehe.

Seriously though, I think he lacks a bit of spark and drive for a top 4 club, but a very decent midfielder when used in the right way.

His pace isnīt something to wank over also, but as u said, heīs a playmaker with a good fottballerīs brain, also the english player type, since he left iceland to join Reaing when he was 13.

dont think Swansea can afford him in the summer, Hoffenheim would want 6m for him, at least.

Newcastle would be a good place for him to go, link up with Ba, they playd really good at Hoffenheim.

Rodwell out, Sigurdsson in

Seriously though, i think Swansea would spend a fair amount on him because he fits into their side perfectly and seems to be a "key". They'd struggle next season without him imo as he is a gamechanger for them. It's not really the money that Swansea would be worrying about, it's the fact that bigger clubs are likely to come in for him and i think he would take that option.

It would be pretty cool to have an Icelandic player at United. Cool as in awesome; not trying to make a smart comment, that just happened naturally.

Don't think he is a fergie type of purchase currently, but would do well for a bigger club. Could see maybe Chelsea going for him

I thought two years ago, before Owen, Gudjohnsen would have been a "Fergie signing" after his stint with Barca.

As for Sigurdsson, I would think a team like Arsenal would want him out of the top 6(?) teams. They need a more reliable set-piece taker and if they can mold him into a better CM, he'd do well to set up Van Persie, Podolski, and (insert whoever they choose). Wilshere and Song backing him up in the midfield.

anyone know his value that Hoffenhiem would sell him at? Just curious to see if Swansea could afford him as he seems to fit their team very well.

He seems a class above swansea imo, but maybe its just there team making him look good, as he seems to have a pretty free role in that team with britton / allan doing the doggies for him.

He has an absolute beast of a shot, i cant believe friedel saved that yesterday, had so much swerve and power it was an amazing stop.

He seemed a threat all game, and his set pieces are very good too, Could be be good enough to be a partner to carrick / cleverley? or is he not really up too that level.
