Henrik Larsson
Probably should be in the football or transfer forum but I'll leave the mods to decide. And this has probably been brought up a few times so far.
Anyone think SAF might speak to him about signing on through the end season? Beats trying to sign this striker for x million or that striker for xx million. Wages probably wouldn't be high. He's still got the legs and the instinct for goal. Was a key player for two months last season. Rooney and Tevez are going to play most matches but Saha's fitness issues and no other cover in the first team, Larsson is probably the best signing for now. I did read one article from last month that stated he would not be eligible for the Champions League but not sure about that. Thoughts? |

No thanks. I blame our Arsenal defeat last season at the Emirates on him. He could barely hold the ball when we needed pressure relieved. Ultimately the constant pressure on our defense tired them and they scored 2 late goals and won the match.
His finishing is top notch so is his build up, but his physical attributes are not up to it, we played worse with him in the team than without him. Rather just try and see what Manucho is all about. |

According to Sky, Larsson has signed a new contract at Helsingborgs for another year. |

I've heard Villa/his old manager are interested in him, wouldnt be a bad deal for any side in the Premier League to get him for a few months, thats sayin a lot considering his age

Agreed, there were times during his loan were I felt he was being played out of sentimentality and not on his form, saha was fit and arguably a better player than a 35 year old larrson.Larsson was a class player and showed flashes of his calibre but to bring him back now wouldn't suit us,much rather a younger player or somone on top of their game.

Great bloke and all that but .....he's nowhere near good enough for Manchester United. (I didn't think he was last season either and I thought a lot of people went OTT on his average performances).

In his prime you would take larsson as he was a class act. Now? come on he is 36 and not the player he once was however he could still have in inpact at a smaller club or a lesser league or even a lesser club at a top league. But i think he might retire, he went to his how town club in sweden and that is a mark of the man he is. A true gent.
