Hull move for Campbell

Hull City have made a 'substantial' offer for Manchester United's young striker Frazier Campbell, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

The 20-year-old spent seven months on loan at Hull last season and scored 15 league goals as they gained promotion to the Premier League.

Tigers boss Phil Brown has previously stated his desire to bring Campbell back to Hull permanently.

Sunderland defender Paul McShane is also reportedly set to join on loan.

Campbell was included in Manchester United's squad to play Zenit St Petersburg in the Super Cup final on Friday.

Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, while fellow striker Louis Saha is poised to move to Everton.

While Saha's exit may open an opportunity for Campbell at United, Berbatov's potential arrival could further hinder Campbell's chances of becoming a first-team regular.

Wouldnt mind him going out on loan if we sign Berb and SAF feels Manucho can play a part. Would rather him play for Hull than be our 5th choice striker.

Higher bids for Campbell and Evans than Rossi and Pique? I think you can draw some fairly obvious conclusions from that, eh.

we'd be stupid to sell now after letting Saha go, Manucho has yet to get fit and play a game for us and Fergie not very optimistic about signing Berbatov. Leaving us with Tevez and Rooney who can't score and does have a thing for niggling injuries now and then

Hope we don't sell him.

He'll get the Carling Cup games and some FA Cup games atleast, and they'll only increase his value if we do want to sell.

Lets keep him, we can't rely on two strikers if we don't get Berba

£7m is a very tempting offer. If we were to get someone else in I wouldn't be surprised if this went through.

I'd prefer him to go out on loan and see if he can cut it in the Premier League first mind.

manucho , campbell in -an injured saha out
if campbell goes -- there will almost certainly be a new signing
backup LB out (who was injured for most of last season) -- twins in ( + evans can cover there (pique couldnt )
eagles out .. reserve player
dong out -- never played

possebon getting first team games + gibson staying on as backup

not a single sale that has been worrying .. yet

having said that
if we do get another striker , would prefer campbell to go out on loan for another season to see how he does in the league and we can see how manucho does ..

I'd sell him for 7m. He'll never end up a regular at United. Welbeck and Macheda look better prospects imo.

Fergie should say £10M at least for him at this time, 20 years old, did a good job last season for Hull. £10M would be a very good offer.

it seems it is £7m

Hull chairman Paul Duffen has tabled a bid of £7m for Manchester United striker Frazier Campbell.

The 20-year-old spent seven months on loan at Hull last season and scored 15 league goals as they gained promotion to the Premier League.

Tigers boss Phil Brown has previously stated his desire to bring Campbell back to Hull permanently.

Meanwhile, the Premier League new boys have signed Sunderland defender Paul McShane on a season-long loan.

Duffen told BBC Humberside: "We've put a £7m bid on the table to Manchester United.

"The complexities of their situation are that it depends on them getting one in, that one might well be Bulgarian."

"As I said all the way through the summer we need to be respectful of that and there's nothing I can do to force the situation.

"If they do bring someone in I want to be at the front of the queue and I will do whatever it takes to bring him to the football club."

"They'll be a lot of people alluding to the fact we've got carried away with ourselves. But I can absolutely guarantee that I'm here for the long term building the football club.

"And we are going to have to get braver in some of the things we do but it will never be at the cost of threatening the security and financial ability of the club long term."

McShane signed for Sunderland from West Brom for £2.5m in July 2007, but failed to secure a regular first team place, making just 20 league starts last season.
snap their fucking hands off tbh, we can manage without him for a few months and get someone in in Jan if needed

Perhaps but they've proved absolutely nothing yet. What happens if Welbeck and Macheda start breaking into the squad and a new kid comes along that looks even better? Do you sell them off? If they do start to look like world beaters you can always sell Campbell at a later date. He's unlikely to get any worse.

I'd say take it. Even if we do sell campbell and not sign berbatov we would have enough cover in manucho and wellback.

Sell him he'll never get a proper chance except for the odd game.
Yesterday was ideal to give Campbell a run but Fergie doesn't trust him, that's obvious

Thats a really good offer for someone who hasn't really proven themselves (yet) in the Premiership. I think hes got potential though and if hes happy to be mainly a sub we should keep him.

Amazing how times change, remember when Cole cost £7 million and it was a huge ammount. Now £7 million gets you someone who has never scored a Premiership goal.

If there was someone, an explosively fast 20 year old, playing in the Italian Leagues, who'd scored 15 goals whilst dragging his club to promotion and was on offer for £7m, you'd probably suggest that we buy him!

Campbell looks good, why sell him?

we MUST have a buyback clause in his transfer deal if we sell him.

He has shown promise, is young and English. If he was playing for west ham, chelsea would have paid 15 million for him, no doubt.
