Robinho Stays, Huntelaar To Come
Ramón Calderón has told Robinho that he will not be joining Chelsea on teh same day that he launched a bid to prise Jan-Klaas Huntelaar away from Ajax. The Real Madrid president is having a busy week as he looks to add the striker to the squad that Bernd Schuster has requested, while fending off a bid from Chelsea for one the club's stars. Robinho is reported to have gone to Calderón's house to tell him face-to-face that he wanted to leave the Bernabéu and move to Chelsea after the Blues made an improved offer for him. But the Brazilian was left disappointed after the Merengues' supremo left no room for negotiations and told the player that there was no chance of that happening, according to Marca. While Robinho is set to stay, Madrid are keen to add to their ranks and Calderón and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic are set to approach Ajax about Huntelaar. Madrid have around €25m to put to the Dutch club for their striker, which is an amount that they are confident will be seen as to good to turn down. While Marco van Basten has recognised that Huntelaar will leave the Amsterdam outfit one day he may have believed that it would not be this summer with only just over two weeks of the window remaining. Raúl and Ruud van Nistelrooy are Madrid's two recognised goalscorers and that has caused Schuster concern and now the message has been heard by the club's hierarchy who are ready to do a deal. |

Man Utd ready to turn to Ajax's Huntelaar
tribalfootball.com - August 19, 2008 Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to make an offer for Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar, it has been revealed. The Times says Dimitar Berbatov is worried that United will try to sign Huntelaar from Ajax if Tottenham refuse to lower their £30 million asking price. |

Dutch football news site http://www.vi.nl in an exclusive story states Real Madrid just offered 25 million for Huntelaar as they couldnt get David Villa from Valencia to join them...
That leaves United with one less option for a new striker... Then again, 25 million is a bit much for a guy who has yet to prove he can score goals outside the mickeymouse competition called the Dutch Eredivisie... |

On the other hand Raul had very little impact on the match, so you'd expect Madrid to be looking at mobile and creative forwards while their goal scorer is still banging them away, but the link man isnt up to much. That explains the Villa enquires, especially after this match where Villa was alone up front with quick support coming from Mata on the left and David Silva through the middle. Villa was man of the match and caused problems all night, scoring one of 3 Valencia goals and doing himself no harm in front of Schuster. |

Yeah it was a great match, I'm in the process of cutting together some extended highlights Was good to see Vicente back from injury yet again, though sporting a black eye for some reason. And even better to see him on the scoresheet. |

![]() We were never in for Villa in the first place anyway so it never really mattered.. Villa's hold up play is not even close to Berbatov's, that's just the way I see it even though I do think his hold up play is better than some others would like to admit. For the goal I'm not sure what Casillas was doing, I really thought he'd eradicated that weakness in his game. He still isn't sure about when to catch a cross or even at times how to, he uses his fists a bit too much for me. Still the best keeper in the world though. Highlights on the computer? If so, I wouldn't mind having a look at them. |

I've never said we were in for Villa. But there are some erronous 'facts' that tend to be posted about him on here by certain people who clearly havent seen him play for at least a year. As for Berbatov vs. Villa in terms of hold up play... Well it depends what you want. Villa was breaking through and beyond the Madrid backline time and again, playing on the shoulder. That's not something Berbatov was doing last year very often at all and of course, Villa's pace makes him excellent at it. He's not as strong as Berbatov, but I'm not sure the Bulgarian would have done much more against the crowd of players Villa was against. Though if Villa almost scored 2 headed goals against Madrid, Berbatov would possibly have scored more. Regardless, he spent the entire match forcing the Madrid defence back, chasing lost causes, holding onto the ball against multiple defenders and generally leaving the defence shit scared that he was going to score. And he did so. Which are the things I'd want from someone partnering Wayne Rooney. Something I've seen Benzema do too. And regardless of whether we've tried to sign them, the point is that they are fecking good players who have made their names in the position we're looking for a player in (lead the line) and have games' that would compliment Rooney almost completely. |

Real Madrid have tabled a bid for Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
Voetbal International says Real have offered £18 million for the Holland international, who is a favourite of coach Bernd Schuster. Real are turning to Huntelaar after being frustrated in their pursuit of Valencia striker David Villa. "I know as much as you," said Huntelaar on Wednesday night. "You'll have to ask Real Madrid or Ajax. I am now working with Ajax. And yes, Real is a great club, that is clear." |

Considering that Fergie wants Rooney to get in the box more and finish would we not be better alowing the lad drop deep and play his natural game and just invest in a no nonsence goal machine like Huntelaar .
Considering we also have shed loads of creative players already do we need really Berba that much, maybe we should take the Dutch lad who is desperate to play for United. |

Manchester United would love to get Klaas Jan Huntelaar and I know their fans are interested in him too.
But it does appear that the Holland international is not for sale and will be staying at Ajax. The Dutch club's technical director Danny Blind made the statement to the Dutch press. There is no possibility of us selling such an important player on the final day of the transfer window. We have agreed not to sell. |
