That is the question atm, once he plays one position for a decent amount of time, we should get a much better idea of what influence he can have on the team or not. I hope he can, but too early to determine anything without speculating wildly.

Rodwell has suffered more with injury than Jones, but lookin at how Jones kicked on when he got here, i would be very hopeful of Rodwell doing the same. If he can, he will be an absolute beast of a CM imo, possibly an English Yaya Toure, although maybe not quite as technically gifted. |

I hope he steps it up IF he does come to us, havent been impressed in the few occasions that i'v seen him play. versatile player no doubt but i'd rather we signed a specialist at CM. Fucking good at what he does rather than being decently good at multiple roles. That said, at his age, he does have a lot of potential to grow as a player. Injury prone though which is always a concern.

I've a sneaking suspicion the same thing is happening with Carroll and Henderson at Liverpool but fuck it, I'm enjoying their hubris while it lasts. |

A young player with plenty of potential and good PL experience already and he's versatile so would suit us playing either 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. I've not seen enough of him to comment on whether he'd be a great signing for us and his injury problems may be a bit of a concern but it's the type of player SAF likes to sign.

If he does fail to live up to his potential as a footballer, he's got a cracking pornstar name. Though making it there will require some of the same qualities of character and fitness...as well as having an enormous penis. The jury's out at the moment on all these questions |

I've said before that Henderson could turn out to be a good player in a couple of years time and under good management. Only 20 years old. |

Nope. Everytime I see him play, the game seems to bypass him. He doesn't seem to want the ball. As ferge once said about cleverley that he's the typical united type of player who always wants the ball. Rodwell does not do that.

26 passes per game, 81% completion in 09/10
25 passes per game, 83% completion in 10/11 27 passes per game, 87% completion in 11/12 Err...I suppose that's gradual progress. Still shockingly few passes per game, it doesn't look good when you're making half as many passes as Fellaini. Worse still is him playing less games in each season. |

Have never really seen the fuss with Rodwell, I must admit. Have never seen anything to suggest he'll be top class as a midfielder, and he doesn't look to have anywhere near the level of talent of Smalling or Evans say at centre back either.
We seem to get linked with him for £20m every single transfer window despite this. There's a post up there speculating that he could end up being as good as Carrick; with all due respect to Carrick who I really rate and feel we'd be fucked without, we shouldn't be looking at players at the moment who have the potential to be of his standard - we should be looking at players at least of Carrick's standard with the potential to be better. Rodwell just doesn't seem to be that player. I can't see him being as good as Carrick either, to be honest. |
