You're clearly the bigger cunt in this.
Fuck off. Shouldnt you be writing up how much you cant stand our Danny Welbeck or something? I doubt you'd be as sympathetic with Barton if it was you or one of your mates on the receiving end of his knock-out blows. Excuse me for not having time to care for people like Joey Barton.

So do all the lads that were suggesting we should sign him last summer, considering he'd walk into our MF (ahem) still think we should go after him if QPR look to get rid of him then?

Seeing as he's basically misunderstood and a reformed character?

He's a good player and probably would do well in a top four side. He has plenty of qualities, unfortunately those qualities are negated by him being a complete head case.

Really? I think sane or not he's a decent footballer but nothing more then that. Can't see how he'd get in to a top 4 team as anything other then a squad player.

I'm with Ash G on that.

He's been poor through the middle this season and his best Newcastle form in 10/11 was on the right providing ammo for Carroll.

I don't understand how people keep making him out to be an important player or how he can even be named as a captain of a club when you know he's going to be involved in at least one piece of controversy a season that's likely to result in a fairly hefty ban. Plus recently he's not been as good as he was earlier in his career. On the decline and a championship/relegation club is his level now.

He's an average player who had a really decent season for Newcastle once. He's struggled at a team fighting relegation, he's absolutely miles away from being good enough for a top 4 club.

I'm fed up to the back teeth with Barton all I want to know is how long that suspension's going to be.

It's common for people like Barton, whom I'm convinced is a sociopath*, to drink too much. It goes with their poor impulse control.

After they get in trouble enough times, and see that they may really be punished by losing their freedom and/or livelihood, they get treatment, and make the knowledge public. It's another tool for them to use to get what they want.

12 step programs are a perfect place for them to hide as well: the people there who are genuinely trying to get better have to believe everyone can improve, regardless of the evidence. Barton can get people to swear by his good character in AA by learning the language they use, and speaking it at meetings.

I've met guys who brag about raping underage women, who even laugh about it, and others who lie as easily as others breathe committing hundreds of thousands of dollars of fraud against everyone including their aging parents, but because they go to meetings, and speak the language, AA people think these people decent, and

Paraphrasing an AA member I used to know: "I used to be a thief. I got sober. It made me a better thief. You can't change what you are. You can just stop pouring booze on top of it."

Barton is a dangerous, violent, manipulative man, with no conscience. Being sober won't take that away.

*Revising my previous statements in this thread about him being a Psychopath. Similar, but different: "Both psychopaths and sociopaths are prone to violence and acts of deceit, however they may behave differently. Sociopaths often explode into violence at a very slight provocation, while psychopaths are very calculating and may take years to plan a crime. Because of this, sociopaths are more often caught than psychopaths."

Poor short passing game and a ridiculous penchant for the hollywood pass (which is funny considering his Twitter comments about England's inability to produce players with that skillset), isn't able to keep hold of the ball in possession, not a great tackler and not the greatest physical attributes to make up for these other deficiencies.
Like I said...

Barton made more inaccurate passes, 490, in the opposition half than any other top-division player last season.

Sewelly, you showed me the light. I've watched Barton more closely recently though, and agree with a lot of what you say about him now. Glorified thug.
