I've saw quite a lot of him and to be honest he wouldn't be my first choice signing but he'd be a decent buy as he won't cost too much and he's still young and shows potential.

The signing actually makes sense for a few reasons:

- He's a centre mid
- He's very famous in Korea (does all the Korean Nike adverts) so would comercailly make sense
- He's a decent young player with potential.

I'm quite a big fan of his, as I said to phelans_shorts in a twitter exchange before the last Old Firm game.

Don't know if he's at a United level but I really like him. He reminds me a lot of Xabi Alonso in the way he plays

No, actually Korea have compared him to Gerrard as they think their style of play are similar...

Think he's just playing at that to be honest.

Adding to that, I've read reports that Celtic will accept a 7m bid...

Celtic have some decent footballers. Kayal, Forrest, that LB of theirs with whom we were heavily linked.

Adam Matthews. Good player, very surprised that he went there in the first place.

Actually I was talking about Emilio Izaguirre(copied from Wiki). We were heavily linked with him, until he got that injury.

I had actually forgot about him, yeah was excellent last season. Matthews looks a very good prospect, was linked with the scousers last week.

When was the last time a player from the SPL signed for us and made it into our first team as a regular?

Sounds like a plausable buy. With Scholes coming out of retirement and with someone like this, this should see us through until Tunni, Morrison and Pogba are ready to step up. Added to the fact he'll still be here and young when they do and be part of that generation.

Mate - I personally would not advocate buying guys based on performances in the SPL alone but in fairness to Ki he had a good World Cup for Korea when only 20 and does show promise.

In the last few years Celtic have radically changed the direction of the club and are now trying to buy young guys, develop them for a couple of years and then sell them on.

Therefore the kind of player you'd buy from Celtic now is different from what's been on offer in the past.

I don't think Ki would be a great signing but I think he'd be worth a punt.

A very tidy player who does the simple things well, keeps the game flowing, keep possession. He wouldn't replace Scholes but he's more mobile than Carrick. The Alonso comparison seems fair.

His performances for Korea show that he's capable of playing at a higher level and to be honest, I thought he would have left by now to a bigger club. I'm in favor.

Saying that - if we're buying an Asian player, I still would love to see Honda here. Since his injury, he's fallen off the map. Think he was linked with PSG and Juve.

What happened to him? I remember watching him on his debut for CSKA in the Champions League and he ran the show.

There are only two teams in Scotland that win the league, and Celtic's one of them.

Broke or tore something in his leg (maybe his knee?) and has been out months past his proposed recovery time. Reports say he's training again. He was linked with Juve in the summer, and PSG this transfer period. Heard some rumors about AC but I doubt those.

He was a monster - the first fully built Japanese player who could compete against brawny defenders. Hope he recovers well and moves away from Russia. He went there for the money and his game suffered in my opinion. Needs to get back into one of the top 4 leagues and refind the form that made him a delight in SA.

Is he better than Gibson? Yes. 100%.

Strange thing is he's arguable the 5th choice centre mid at Celtic... He'd deffo not get a game ahead of Kayal, Wanyama or Brown and arguably he'd be behind Ledley as well.

That says more about the kick and rush nature of Scottish football though than it says about Ki.

As a Celtic fan I'd be more upset at losing Kayal or Wanyama than Ki but I also realise that Ki wold be far more likely to go to a better team and fit in.

Aye this is true, he's made Celtic really popular in Korea. Your games make it to the back pages over here and I see people walking round in Celtic gear all the time.

Have no idea how good he is though, never actually seen him play.

That's actually a good question. If Park Chu-Yong couldn't get away from it, neither could Ki, I think.
