dunno about that. he's a decent player. I'd like to see how he does as his previous spells in Germany weren't up to much.

Well, the Yak and Jo has managed a total of nil league goals so far this season, add Cahill to that and they'll have two. With Saha being their best player but injury prone, a striker on loan makes sense. If he's any good. He takes a terrible penalty, that's all I know.

Looks like Iniesta, so I think it's fair to assume he's at least as good as Iniesta.

now that you mention it he does look like Iniesta. Same father, has to be! didn't know Iniesta's dad is a Canadian.

Laphroaig: Donovan is very good at penos. just fecked up at the MLS cup but normally he buries them.

He's quite a good player. I would want to see him up close in the Premier League to find out if he can really excel at the highest level.

Should he play out wide or off the main striker at Everton?

Good question. I like him out wide for the US because that seems to be the best place to slot him in given the rest of the talent on the team, but to be honest, I haven't watched enough of Everton. A partnership with Saha would be intriguing.

Did he not answer that question at the last world cup?

The answer was no he can't.

I like him wide for the USA because at least he will do some tracking back where as Dempsey leaves a gaping hole out there. Personally think Bradley should opt for a 4-3-3 in the WC and push Dempsey and Donovan forward with whichever center forward he chooses (Altidore, Ching, Cooper, Cunningham, damn that's a crap list). Damn you Davies!

I think England might suit Donovan better than Germany. He is a good passer, decent at set pieces but not so sure about his crossing.

He did very well against Italy - and that was with the US down a man. But on the whole his performance in 2006 wasn't good. But he was very effective in 2002 - ran circles around Germany.

Maybe if he does get partnered with Saha and gets used to playing up front again he might be able to play that role at the World Cup and someone else can get a chance to fill in on the left.

Will Yak be leaving for the ACN as well? It could be a good move for him as long as he produces in his first few appearances. I just hate the idea of loans as it seems that the majority are not that successful. That being said I hope he does well when he is over there. The other teams interested in him supposedly were PSG and Livorno

It's only similar to Beckham's if he stays at Everton until the end of the season to stay in shape for the world cup. Is he going to do that, or go back to Galaxy for the beginning of their season? The article doesn't say.

He's the US team's most talented player and I think he could make it at Everton if he wants to.

It'll be interesting to see how he copes with the Premier League.

His goal record in the MLS and for the US national side is not too shabby for a midfielder.

he's not very big but he has some pace and decent ball control. I think the way to put him off his game is to muscle him off the ball.

you're right, it doesn't say. the MLS season starts in March and tbh if he went all the way through to May with Everton he might be jaded for the WC.

dunno how Becks does it tbh but at the same time this would probably the last year for him. can't see him making the England team for Euro 2012 qualifications.

Not a bad idea for Everton. Worst case scenario he's gonna be the same as what they've got.

He's an excellent player. He did very well at the world cup in 2002, and he was decent in 2006. He also played a major role in the US run to the finals of the confederations cup last summer. I'm not sure why things didn't work out for him in Germany, but Everton is about his level. I think this is a good move for all parties.

I honestly think he's wanting to prove he can hack it in Europe to make his "legacy" legit outside the US and amongst some of his peers that have achieved in Europe. I reckon all the naysay has finally gotten to him. I figure if things pan out good for him during this loan, he might just make a permanent switch. I'm still baffled why he chose Germany the last time after having failed there twice. His style is better suited for England or Spain.

Makes me wonder just what kind of player he might have developed into under the vision of SAF or Wenger. More so mentally. He was a bit of a primadonna early in his career.

Maybe no club from England or Spain was asking for his services.

Think he'll flop. Not getting in the team ahead of Cahill/Fellaini to partner Jo/Saha and Bilyaletdinov's got the other wing tied up.

He's got no chance.

I don't know him well but he's a playmaker, isn't he? Everton lack flair players imo, they have overabundance of donkeys in the middle. Whenever Arteta comes back, him, Bilyaletdinov and Donovan may add some creativity to their attack.

I am looking forward to this. This will prove once and for all if Donovan can play with the big boys or if he is simply a good MLS player.

I wonder if Beckham has questioned his commitment to the Galaxy after hearing this news?

Moyes had good luck bringing in Brian McBride some years ago, so this might be worth a shot to him as well.

Not at all. Both Portsmouth and Sunderland attempted to sign him on loan, but because of the odd MLS schedule, he was not allowed to do so.

He went to Germany because he is friends with Klinnsman. They have trained together for years.

Didn't work out in Germany because of numbers. They have two older more established strikers and the front office believed the other spots should go to younger, up and coming strikers for development. Said they saw no reason to give the spot to an older striker. (And that's the position he was playing). Klinsman wanted him.

Scored 5 goals in preseason for them. Not bad.

Often is also played as a forward. Let me know how Saha holds up.
