The Brazilian club Internacional have confirmed that they have received an offer of £12m from Tottenham Hotspur for their Brazil International striker Leandro Damio, and have rejected the bid.
Internacional president Giovano Luigi confirmed that Spurs had made the offer but didn’t feel that it matched their valuation. “It was the first concrete offer we’ve had,” Luigi said. “I told them that I didn’t want to sell now. I think they’ll return with a new offer. I advised them that he will only leave at the end of the year and for a far greater fee.” Damioa has been linked with a move to several other clubs due to some exceptional performances for Brazil and his club. Arsenal, Benfica, Champions League winners Barcelona and Roma, who have all expressed a desire for the talented and deadly striker. Leandro Damiao has formed a dangerous partnership with fellow Brazilian Neymar (who is expectced to join Chelsea in the coming weeks) in the national team, and that alone has caught the eyes of many of the clubs and more who want to sign him. He is believed to be worth anywhere in excess of £15m or more, and that is a price worth paying by any standards with the qualities this player can offer a team. The Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will be sure to return with another bid is sure to make another go at taking him to White Hart Lane after being encouraged by Luigi’s words. |

This would be similar to our signing of Sandro from the same club (Internacional), with whom Spurs have a formal partnership agreement. Sandro has strongly recommended the player to Spurs (and has played alongside Damiao a fair bit at Internacional), and certainly Sandro has proved to be an excellent signing thus far. So it'd be a gamble for sure, but one worth taking I'd reckon ... depending of course on what the fee might be if finally agreed. |

He'd be the only striker in your squad that is best up front on his own in the 4231/4411 so it does make sense, and that alone may be enough to fast-track him into the team earlier than expected, but yeah absolutely not one to rely on for his first season at the club.
