Madrid Close In On Huntelaar
Real Madrid are closing in on a move for Ajax attacker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, according to his agent Vincenzo Morabito.
The Holland hit-man is focusing on the Euro 2008 finals with his country but is expected to leave Amsterdam after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League. A number of top clubs have trailed the former Heerenveen star for some time, including Manchester United and Chelsea, but Real are in pole position to bring another Dutch striker into the club to join Ruud van Nistelrooy at the Bernabeu. Morabito revealed to an Italian radio station that a deal is in the pipeline and he expects a move to be successfully completed in the near future. Huntelaar was thought to be an option open to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as he seeks a striking talent to pep up his attack at Old Trafford. The 24-year-old has been a prolific scorer at Eredivisie level and will be a key figure for The Netherlands in the upcoming finals. THE END |

Ah fuck !!! What the hell do Madrid need him for, they already have 2 strikers who can be considered in the same style as Huntelaar. A THIRD goal-poacher .
He won't get in ahead of Ruud and he certainly won't replace the golden boy of Madrid Raul. And he won't be a direct replacement for Ruud as imo still has some years left in the tank. Its the Dutch connection i'm guessing, they all want to go to Madrid now. I expect him to be very prominent in Euro2008 so i guess it would make sense that clubs would be hoping to seal a deal for him now rather than risk he plays a blinder of a performances to see his price-tag shoot up |

Whats with all the im really happy about this responses, like people are Madrid fans. Im guessing it is some kind of i did not want him to sign for us anyway thing but nobody knows if he was actually a real target for Fergie.
I think he is a good player either way. |

If this is true then it could be bad news for us. He is a top striker and would be an ideal player for our club. He will make Real Madrid's attack even more formidable. Anyway, if Huntelaar is not the striker we are after, then who do we really want.

More Quotes from Bernd Schuster.
Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has dropped a massive hint that his club will make a big-money summer move for Ajax's star striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The 24-year-old Netherlands international is one of Europe's hottest players after scoring more than 50 goals in two years with the Amsterdam club and Schuster is clearly a fan. "This lad is very similar to Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Marco Van Basten. He is a spitting image of them. It seems that they have made a clone in a laboratory," he told AS. "He has qualities of Van Nistelrooy and Van Basten. He moves in a similar way, is tall, shoots with two feet, does well in the air and is a good goalscorer. "As well as that, these guys have a good schooling, learn things easily and are good professionals. This gives some security when signing them. "Here he will not score 30 goals a season like there, but maybe he will score five less." |
