English Premier League managers have been told that signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could be the difference between success and failure next season.

The Dutch striker is in demand this summer with top clubs, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan, lining up bids to take him away from Ajax.

But having spent four years with Charlton Athletic, Dennis Rommedahl, his teammate in Amsterdam, said England should be his next destination and he would not be a gamble.

Rommedahl said: “Maybe Klaas will want to go to Spain or Italy, but I think he will suit England and if I was a manager in the Premier League I would buy him.

“I would recommend it to him too. It’s a fantastic league to play in and a great experience. It depends on what he wants and what he wants to achieve, but he can be a hero in the Premier League.

“Proven scorers are hard to get and he is one of the top talents in Europe at the moment.

“It will be a big blow for Ajax if we lose him because he can score around 25 goals a season.”

Rommedahl, 29, was enjoying life back in the Netherlands, having first shone with PSV Eindhoven before sampling life in the top flight in England at Charlton.

“It’s fantastic to be back to my second home in Holland,” said Rommedahl, who has won 75 caps for Denmark.

“It’s good to play and I’m enjoying my time again because it wasn’t easy in my final days at Charlton. My plan is to do well at Ajax and then see what happens, but I wouldn’t say no to playing in England again.

The agent of Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has responded furiously to suggestions in French sports paper L'Equipe that his client is on the verge of a move to Real Madrid.

Arnold Oosterveer was also particularly riled that the story claimed Vincenzo Morabito was Huntelaar's representitive.

Oosterveer said: "This is ridiculous. I didn't know this story but I can tell that all that is printed there is nonsense.

"There is no contact with Real Madrid or any other club for the matter about Huntelaar.

"Morabito is not the agent of Klaas-Jan and we have in the past already rapped him over the knuckles. Unbelievable. It's also a shame that a renowned sports paper like L'Equipe prints this rubbish."

FFS .Guess you can't believe anything nowadays.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is not on the verge of a move to Real Madrid according to the player’s agent Arnold Oosterveer.

French sports paper L’Equipe had reported another agent Vicenzo Morabito saying that the player was set to move to the Santiago Bernabeu, but Oosterveer was keen to distance his client from the claim.

Oosteveer said: "This is ridiculous. I didn't know this story but I can tell that all that is printed there is nonsense.

There is fresh doubt over Klaas Jan Huntelaar's long-term future at Ajax after the Holland striker failed to agree a new contract with the club.

Huntelaar has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal.

Ajax technical director Danny Blind admitted to De Telegraaf that contract talks had failed in large part because Huntelaar wanted a release clause written into the deal but felt Ajax wanted to set the price too high.

"When you look at the Ajax salary structure he could get a huge deal," Blind said. "But he doesn't want to see a release clause set at 25million euros (£19.75million) in his contract. We didn't want to go any lower."

However, Blind insists the breakdown in talks does not mean Huntelaar will leave the club any time soon.

"We don't want to see Klaas Jan leave us," he said. "The bar is high. We would like to keep our top scorer in Amsterdam. If he doesn't want to sign a new contract, he still has a deal for the next two years."

Blind also holds out hope that Huntelaar might reconsider.

"The negotiations are stalled," he said. "We have agreed on the fact that Ajax will speak with all clubs that come in for Huntelaar. If the interested clubs don't want to pay what we we ask for, then we hope that we can start new talks with Klaas Jan again."

I've thought long and hard about it, and I'm giving SAF the all clear to make a substantial offer for The Hunter. He offers something very different from Roo, Tev and Saha/Campbell, and with Ron departing probably withit 2 years we might go back to a more basic 4-4-2 in the not too distant future. Having a targetman/goalgetter extraordinare will be gold then.

Yes. Because without Ronaldo we'd play with a target man lumping the ball up to him from the half way line. We'd be Everton.

And there is only one type of goal getter. The type that can only play football inside the 18 yard box.

We sold Ruud and moved on from that system 2 years ago. I wouldn't be happy if we returned to it.

Agree with this in part. Regardless of formation or tactics which are ever changing he would offer something different to what we have, outside of all that hit it up to a target man bollocks. We have never played like that, never did with Ruud and our change in success did not have as much to do with Ruud going as people go on.

I don't quite get this post. Is it completely ironic, somewhat ironic or (God forbid) not ironic at all? Either way, read Keyzer's post for a bit of healthy footie-ain't-black-and-white perspective.

Technically Ruud leaving had a lot to do with United's transformation. But this is due to the fact it gave Ronaldo more freedom to play. It's actually in my opinion got nothing to do with formations or even style of play. The current system United employ seems to be based more around Ronaldo's strengths if anything. If Ronaldo was to leave then a player like Huntelaar could suit us as it is important then to change our style.

If we bought Huntelaar we wouldn't revert back to the style of play we played with when Ruud was here, it would just add to the variation. Different styles for different scenarios can only improve things. I don't want him here but far too many make the comparison between a pure goalscorer and shit on a stick football. Our personnel has changed and our style of play has changed with it, one signing will not ruin the whole system.

It's the only way he plays. So either we will change our style or he'll struggle to play.

He's more adaptable than you think but forget about that anyway. Holland play free flowing football and give everyone ahead of their two cm's plenty of freedom, just like us. Huntelaar/Van Nistelrooy have proven they can play in this system for Holland so he could do the same for us.

I'm against the idea but you are stuck on the idea of our front man needing pace.

He's not adaptable at all from when I've seen him for Ajax and the Netherlands. He's extremely static and can only play the 1 role.

It's not about the pace. It's about his complete lack of ability outside the box. He's one of those that will go invisible for large amounts of time and only come alive when the ball is put into the box.

He'll be a very good goal scorer for anyone who builds the team around creating chances for him. He'll be rubbish for anyone who doesnt, because thats all he contributes.

And that's what I mean, you see a completely different player to me when we look at Huntelaar. Who knows who is closer to the truth though. I just think he is not as static as made out to be.

And that's a problem? We already have Nani/Tevez/Ronaldo/Rooney to do the leg work outside the box but we need some variation up top, as you have said many times before.

His goalscoring record for Holland is good and they sure as hell don't build the team around him, not in the slightest.

The only 'variation' we need is someone who will finish the majority of their chances and play on the shoulder of the defence. Hunterlaar certainly has a finish - but he lacks almost everything Tevez brings to the team in his place. Too limited. He's not that good at holding the ball up. He's very basic with his link up play. And will completely drift out of matches.

He plays as the single front man between 2 wingers. Thats a team built around a single goal scorer.

For us to do that... Rooney is playing left wing... again.

I'd certainly prefer to keep Rooney and Tevez as the first choice partnership. And if we're bringing in a 3rd choice, its going to need to be someone who can come straight into our current tactics, like Saha could. Besides, I read an article a few months ago where Hunterlaar was saying he wants to be first choice.

I really cannot see us buying him, so it wouldnt bother me if the Real story was bullshit. There's a chance he'll still be at Ajax next season even. I wonder what people would be saying.
