Always had his head up looking for a pass too. Still a long way from the finished article, but he's 17 and looks a decent prospect.

Looks a very good prospect, a little rough round the edges but nothing that can't be fixed. He looks like he could create something everytime he was around the box and had decent movement by creating alot of space for himself alot of the time as all great players do, imo he has te potential to be a great player but of course his choice of club and how much game time he gets will determine whether he fufils his potential.

stick him in the best team in the world, with the best players and the best coaching staff and watch him flourish, if we get him cheap enough its worth the gamble, lets face it we have had worse, richardson, chadwick, fortune to name but a few.

And you could say all this after watching him play in one match?

I agree. Unlucky with injuries and the heartache he went through with missing out on medals.

I was impressed with what I saw yesterday of him, but agreed that his performance against Boro was the stand out. I would say he is definitely worth signing for £5m...really could develop into a talented player. Reminds me a lot of Robert Brady, the 16 year old Irish youngster we signed this season and is in our Academy. It could be Ramsey, Brady and Welbeck in our youth ranks - each of them are probably the cream of the crop from their respective countries in the 16-17 age group and all British/Irish too.

This is the first time ive seen him play so I dont feel that Im in a position to give an opinion. Stating that, from the little Ive seen I was impressed. If SAF have faith in him then we should sign him up.

Seems like Cardiff want Tom Heaton on loan. Fits in well with the rumours about the Ramsey deal.

Cardiff City swoop for Man Utd keeper
May 19 2008 by Terry Phillips, Western Mail

CARDIFF CITY boss Dave Jones is bringing in a Manchester United goalkeeper as the Bluebirds seek to bounce back from their Wembley woe and make a genuine push for the Premiership next season.

Chairman Peter Ridsdale has pledged to make cash available to Jones in his quest to strengthen his squad and launch a major bid for promotion from the Championship.

Cardiff are ready to offer Manchester United’s Tom Heaton a season’s loan deal in the first of those signings ... and Sir Alex Ferguson is keen for his young goalkeeper to gain experience with the FA Cup finalists.

Ferguson has a good rapport with Dave Jones and trusts the Cardiff manager to look after the highly-rated Heaton.

Peter Enckelman, whose error cost the Bluebirds the cup against Portsmouth, has also been offered a contract.

But his position as first choice will come under genuine threat from 22-year-old Heaton, who is seen as an outstanding shot stopper and a potential Old Trafford regular number one of the future.

Enckelman has come under fire from many City fans after spilling the cross which led to Kanu’s winning goal at Wembley.

Jones remained upbeat after the game and stated that “the people running this football club need shooting” if the Bluebirds don’t move forward following their cup final appearance.

“We’re not just national any more, we’re global, and hopefully that will enable us to sign new players who otherwise might not have come here,” said Jones.

“We have to use this Wembley appearance as a springboard. We’ve reached the cup final, we’ve got a new stadium being built, we have to grow from here.

“The supporters of Cardiff City deserve their club to be in the Premier League. That has to be the next aim.”

Jones has told Ridsdale how much transfer cash he needs to turn his FA Cup aces into genuine promotion contenders for next season – and that includes backing to bring in new players.

Heaton will be the first, with Jones also looking to sign a couple of strikers, among others.

City chairman Ridsdale, who would not reveal how much Jones wants, said: “Dave has told me the sort of spending power he would like.

"If we are able to give him that money, and that’s exactly what we are working to do, he believes we can go on to earn promotion.

"I will not break my policy of not spending money we can't afford, but we will do everything possible to give Dave the backing he needs for next season.”

Heaton has played in the reserves for Manchester United, but has yet to make the first team. He is seen by Ferguson, however, as an outstanding shot-stopper who can make it in the top flight.

In the 2004-05 season he became established as first choice for Ferguson’s reserve team and has helped them win two league titles and two cups.

He has had loan spells with Swindon, where he made 19 appearances, and Royal Antwerp. He was also the unused first team substitute for United eight times this season.

I can't see us making any new signings yet. Sure the season has only finished. There's no panic.

The champions league was unfortunately a distraction for Gill and Ferguson. But give them time.

Ramsey To Snub United?

The latest speculation surrounding Welsh wiz-kid Aaron Ramsey is that he is set to reject the chance to join Manchester United this summer.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in English football, which has prompted United boss Sir Alex Fergusion to tempt Cardiff City with a whopping £10million offer.

United are also prepared to loan the 17-year-old back to the Bluebirds immediately for a season to help Cardiff manager Dave Jones as he attempt to steer the Welsh club back to the top-flight after an absence of 47 years.

Nevertheless, there are unconfirmed reports that Ramsey's parents are unconvinced that signing for the talent-stacked English champions is the wisest move at this stage of their son's development.

That would be shit for him and us. Someone said his dad is a bit of a nutter. Anyhow; the clubs are probably in agreement already, can't see this falling through now. His family is testing the waters for the possibility of more money, I reckon.

Yeah I heard that as well, just assumed his dad was a treehugger or had a few misdemeanors with a sheep. Ah well it would be Ramsey's loss and not ours.

Cardiff City have rejected offers from Arsenal and Liverpool for Aaron Ramsey, the 17-year-old midfielder who is also on Manchester United's radar. It is understood that the offers, both believed to be worth close to £5m, were turned down because Cardiff are seeking a more substantial sum up front, with the Championship club reluctant to agree a deal in which the bulk of the fee is linked closely to the teenager's development.

Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to return with improved offers but there is likely to be competition from a number of other Premier League clubs, including Everton, Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

United are also continuing to monitor the situation, although the lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford, and at Arsenal and Liverpool for that matter, is likely to be uppermost in Ramsey's mind when he makes a decision.

John Toshack, the Wales manager, voiced similar concerns this week when he spoke about the number of promising teenagers who have moved to Premier League clubs and struggled to fulfil their potential because of the quality of players in front of them. One solution would be for Ramsey to spend a season on loan at a Championship club, an agreement which could see him return to Ninian Park in August. There is certainly little chance of him starting next season as Cardiff's property, and the Welsh club are resigned to losing their biggest asset.

Ever since Ramsey made his debut in April last year interest in the Caerphilly-born midfielder has snowballed. Manchester United's manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has spoken to his Cardiff counterpart, Dave Jones, about Ramsey, and Harry Redknapp was hugely impressed with the teenager's performance in the FA Cup semi-final against Barnsley last month. Ramsey then came on as a substitute in the Cup final against Redknapp's Portsmouth at Wembley this month.

Ramsey has two years remaining on his Cardiff contract but such is the sense of inevitability surrounding his departure that there has been no talk of extending his deal.

His progress at Ninian Park - he made 21 appearances for Cardiff last season - has been recognised at international level, with Toshack calling him into the Wales squad for this week's friendlies in Iceland and Holland.
