Marco Verratti

According to his agent we're interested:

Quote:
"Many clubs have contacted me. Barcelona and Manchester United are lining him up. Ferguson likes Marco a lot.” - agent Donato Di Campli informed 10 Sport
He's a 20 year capped Italian who currently plays for PSG. If hes any decent I'd find it hard to believe PSG would let him go but I cant say I've seen/heard of him before. Can anyone in the caf enlighten me?

Mute the music if it's not your cup of tea.
Looks like a very talented and intelligent player from that video. I've heard good things about him before watching the video, just not enough to actually give any detailed analysis.

I just don't see why PSG would want to get rid of him. Seems like a real gem.

Only seen him in a few CL matches and one Ligue 1 match. He's talented alright. One of the biggest Italian talents. Excellent against Valencia the other day.

Saying that clubs like him is hardly news worthy. I'm sure SAF has a list (or so to speak) of 50 players that he likes. But with all the talent that PSG possesses players are bound to get fed up with not playing. It's already started with Nene. If I remember correctly he was their best player last season but couldn't get game time this season (and that was even before Lucas joined).

I imagine that they'd want to keep a hold of him and the reason for him wanting to leave would either be homesickness or in the future getting bored of the lack of challenge in the French league.

Didn't he just join PSG in July? On a 5 year contract?

Heralded as the next Pirlo. Was the mainstay for Pescara in Serie B.

But that's just his agent looking for a wage hike. Clubs are interested in a player who just moved to a new club 6 months back? Really?

the fact that he's an extremely intelligent, technically gifted, highly rated central midfielder suggests we will certainly not be in for him too obvious.

i would definitely wank vigourously if we bought him though.

the only question would be if he would adapt to the pace and physicality of the premier league. i don't know the answer to that.

Giovinco is 5' 4 1/2. Verratti is 5' 6.

If for instance no one at the club made a comment about Verratti about liking him or eve signing him, can't the club sue that greedy cunt of an agent ?

Cracking player. Would like him to take over from Scholes. However PSG wouldn't let him go that easy given the fact that they just signed him this past summer.

I heard that PSG got him from a club in Seria B and he had only played 7 games, and hes gone straight into PSG first team - now that is scouting for you!.

Cannot see them selling him, not while they are trying to build.

He does certainly look talented though - your typical modern CM, great passing, good work rate and skillfull.

Read wiki. Would help you.

He was the mainstay of the Serie B team (Pescare) for around 2 years before moving to PSG, and had other clubs in for him as well.

He's a feisty bugger like Scholesy but I do think he's one of those players that is just too lightweight. Not sure I agree with the Pirlo comparisons either, he's seemed a lot more energetic and combative when I've saw him.

And Keane wasn't? (to people complaining 'oh he's a cunt we don't want him here etc)

You need certain people like that in your team. Keane was a cunt but he was our cunt. Rooney's probably our current one, but Veratti would be a brilliant addition if we could get hold of him. Would add some bite from our squad which we've been missing since Fletch decided to reject his internal organs.

I don't mind that really considering we have a couple of those with us already - like Rooney.

I definitely agree with you, I like this sort of player.Verratti is the sort of player who will go to a difficult away ground and play without fear of his more experienced opponents.Already at his age, his mental qualities are great. It's great to have players like that

Agent bullshit, but I'd take him in a second. Exactly the sort of player we need, really.

I'm not sure that concerns about how lightweight he is are valid. There's the usual 'look at Oscar, Silva etc' argument. Also in that YouTube comp he seems to be under constant rigorous physical pressure. Ligue 1 isn't that far from the PL in terms of physicality.

There was talk a while back that France would become less attractive to high earning footballers due to the new President introducing a 75% income tax on earnings over 1mil.
Wonder if we'll see some impact from that.

Thought he was very impressive v Valencia, didn't think he'd catch the eye of others but nothing gets past the Caf, or Ferguson for that matter if the story is believed.

Exactly. Any interest we may or may not have had would have been relevant before he went to PSG. Now it doesnt even matter, they'd ask for a lot more than we'd pay

Yeah, PSG selling seems unlikely. Probably wants a bigger contract there as he is starting for them and others get paid a lot more.

PSG wouldn't sell unless the player somehow forced their hand.

And even then Cider I don't think we'd want to be associated with those types of players, regardless of how good they are/can become.

He's very good, a bit too rash at times (gets a lot of bookings for talking back, but more for very... vigorous challenges, and quite often stupid ones) but will mature with age. As far as maturity goes, he's however already pretty impressive for someone so young. Someone above was curious about whether he'd be able to adapt to the Premier League 'pace and physicality', he's a tough little bastard, there'd be no problem there.

He'd be a good acquisition no doubt, but it won't happen, it would make no sense for PSG, he's the future for them and he's rated very highly.

Oh, by the way, the salary thing seems more than likely: less than a week ago, his agent (Donato Di Campli) said that he wasn't paid enough and should be on the same wages as most of the other players.

At the moment, he's on 100.000 € a month apparently, so 25.000 € a week (about £20K/week).

Ah well, I actually found the agent's interview in extenso, here goes:

Quote:
Translation:

"I'll be in Paris for the PSG-OM game. Leonardo and I will speak for Marco to stay a long time at PSG. But Marco must be treated like all the other PSG players. He's got a contract until 2017 and until then, normally, there won't be any major changes. But beware! I think it's also in PSG's best interests, not to offer Marco a contract extension but to put him on the same level as the other players. We'll talk about that with Leonardo and it's normal because Marco shouldn't be penalised within the team. If we don't come up with a increase in wages, I think that could be a problem. If PSG can't doesn't satisfy our expectations, there are other teams that are interested in signing Marco and after, it's the transfer market... The next meeting with Leonardo will be instrumental for Marco's future even if we're confident. There's no urgency. A lot of Italian clubs have contacted me, but not only Italian clubs. The big clubs in Spain and in England as well. Barça and Manchester United are interested. Ferguson likes Marco a lot. That's why Paris must increase his salary."

Sounds like a right cunt.
