You do know he is a Central Midfielder, he would only ever be a defence cover a bit like Keane was!

In fairness, he's played a lot of football as centre-half. But he is definetly no left-back.

Yeah but he now plays as a holding midfielder and is playing very well in that position (as far as I have seen), so I can only see him covering them positions for back up and that's even more credit to him for being versatile.

Maybe you right. But as far as I know he is comfortable in any position on the left of the pitch. Be it wide or central and is young enough to make a position like left back his own. But I love him in midfield. As I've said many times before. He reminds me of Petit. I wouldn't mind letting one of my favorites (Fletcher) go to accomodate him.

Veloso ?

I thought we'll be after Joao Moutinho after his appereances in senior Portugal team.

Sporting have a full bunch of talented youngsters and I can see Queroiz supporting that kind of transfers.

It's very possible that we will see Veloso at Old Trafford in one or two years.

Veloso's versatility is a big plus, but unlike Sheasy he's talented enough to become first choice in his favored central midfield position. I really hope we sign this lad. Future Portugal captain.

No players from Britain.

Maybe Scolari would be proud of that midfield.

He's usually refered to as a defensive midfielder, but he's got a good engine and he likes to use that superb left foot of his for shooting as well as creative passing in the final third.

True, he'l probably captain them one day. They also have one truly amazing young central defender in Da Costa, he was totally flawless in the U-21 championship in the summer, he had it all.

Yes, Da Costa was might impressive. elegant, quick of pace and in the tackle, and had a good reading of the game.

Arsenal aim to beat Man Utd for £20M Veloso

Arsenal are planning a major bid for Sporting Lisbon midfield ace Miguel Veloso.

While Manchester United are following the Portugal international, O Jogo says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is prepared to offer £20 million in January for the youngster.

United have a close relationship with Sporting, but if they want to land Veloso, they will have to match Arsenal's bid when the market reopens.

£20m ? Madness.

Clearly newspaper bollocks. Arsene Wenger won't pay £20 million for anyone.

Why so pleased? That midfield is not even close as good as the one we have at the club right now.
