Bit of a coup for Spurs.

Would expect him to play in the middle.

I think the odds are that Berbatov willl be sold this summer, if Levy's asking price is met (but not otherwise). But if so, the money will likely be spent on a new striker (David Villa for example) and one or more players in other positions (e.g. a DM and/or GK) - it won't be used to repay the bank for Modric's fee, because we don't need to do that.
Hypothetically speaking, if berbatov throws his toys out the pram and starts not showing up for training or visibly using the press to put pressure on the club to accept a move, I think levy's price will be driven down. These days, players have all the power in the world. If berbatov were to do these things this summer, ramos would tell levy to move him asap.

all in all, there is no way levy is going to get his 30-35 million quid if berbatov were to move as is reported in the press.

Tottenham have revealed they will equal their record transfer fee by paying £16.5m for Luka Modric.

The amount Spurs will pay Dinamo Zagreb for the Croatia midfielder is the same as they agreed to sign striker Darren Bent from Charlton in June 2007.

Tottenham confirmed the terms of the deal to the Stock Exhange on Tuesday. They will pay the £16.5m in instalments over the next four years.

Modric has agreed a six-year contract, subject to gaining a work permit.

I'm happy with that deal. Delighted in fact.

Certainly a good piece of business for Spurs. Now they will have some decisions to make about the rest of their midfielders. They have too many and Ramos has to decide what style and formation he wants his team to play in next season.

He does. My only question is can he play wide left. Because I'm certain spurs don't need any more attacking central midfielders.

Very good business for Spurs. They desperately need a centre half that can stay healthy and a good holding midfielder to pair with him.

Im more assuming that Spurs wont want to lose alot of their hard earned cash.

David Villa would only go to a champions league team in my opinion.

Just seen this new Modric compilation on YouTube. Have to say I'm even more pleased we've got him after watching it:

Quite true, and nor am I.

In fact I've never see Modric play except against England, where he was outstanding. But he seems to be very highly rated by those who have regularly seen him play and based on this - and also based on many reports that he was widely sought after - IMO Spurs have done exceptionally well to sign him.

But don't let that distract you from your po-faced annoyance that I or anyone else might enjoy watching a good compilation video of the new Spurs player.

Same here, he does seem to have some good reviews so I look forward to seeing him play. I think he will turn out to be a good signing for you

Don't worry GlastonSpur, he is quality and it'll only be a few seasons before man utd bid £30 mill for him. I can't believe non of the muppets on here wanted Modric at united but rest assured they'll be wanking themselves to death over him come the next couple of seasons. Oh wait when has that happened before...........

Very good player, potentially great. Will be interesting to see if Ramos has the ability to get him to that next stage. I think he does, seems like a solid manager.

I have Modric on my Pro Evo Master League team and he scored against United in our 3-0 win over them. He's been devastating for us on that game.
