Nicky Shorey

Out of contract and available for free. We don't need him as we have Silvestre, but someone is going to pick up a good player for free this summer.

My guess is he'll go somewhere where he can be first choice. So that rules the top 4 out, obviously. He's still better than most left backs in the country though.

Shorey is not a patch on Silvestre. He'll be an ok signing for some team in the mid-table scrap, maybe Newcastle. He'd be out of his depth at a top 4 club.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Liverpool go for him.
1. Free
2. Average
3. Has played for a struggling Premier League side.

Did anyone know that he is one of just a few select players that have played in all the divisions from Prem to League 2?

I would rather we keep McCartney as first choice and bring Mattock in as cover

I'd be happy with Shorey but not with Shorey as first choice

He'll stay I think, he's very versatile and has played nearly everyhwere this season, considering our injuries that was much needed

Tottenham wouldn't surprise me, though what has happened to Gareth Bale?

So he's perfectly suited for Liverpool in other words.

So is Spector destined for an O'Shea type role in the squad or will they finally find him a permanent spot? For me it's either make him a RB, LB, or CM.

Their fans think Collins has been one of their best players.

No he will always be an O'shea type of player, I don't think he was very good at LB though he was semi decent as RB, CB or as a CM.

Shame. I remember his man of the match performance for us against Blackburn, playing left back.

Reading have confirmed that they will listen to offers for wantaway full-back Nicky Shorey.

The Royals have been forced to accept that relegation from the Premier League will make it impossible for them to persuade the England international to stay.

West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle are all believed to be interested in acquiring the left-back, with the Hammers having chased his signature for some time.

Reading's chief executive Nigel Howe admits that the club will be forced to slash their wage bill over the summer; a situation which will undoubtedly lead to the departure of some of their biggest assets.

"Nicky Shorey and a few others will be looked at as potential people to leave," said Howe.

"Nicky has made it clear for a long time that he hasn't been too happy at the club.

"Well, let's hope that somebody comes in with a good offer."

Royals boss Steve Coppell, who reiterated his intention to remain at the club on Tuesday, has also been warned that he will be operating on a tight budget in the Championship next season.

"What we have said to Steve is that if he trades well it should release enough funds to go forward," Howe told the Reading Evening Post.

"But he won't have money unless he sells. At the moment we are just trying to balance the budget.

"The concern is to keep as many of the core squad together. But Steve does want to reduce the squad so he is expecting to receive offers for players.

"If Steve wants to keep all the players on the same salaries, there won't be the release of funds. If he reduces the wage bill, he will have funds.

"Even though we get the £11million parachute we have still got very highly paid players - even with the reduction in wages - so I think we will have to budget for a small loss.

"Salaries have to be at the middle range and some in the upper range for the Championship."
I think 3.5 Million will be a realistic figure for him judging by the interest in him and Reading needing the money to buy
