They'll never match Barca. You can't underestimate the batch they brought through. People tend to but in the main, they'd not a patch on barcelona.

We've seen it for Spain, Liverpool and Madrid - Alonso is at his creative best when he's complemented by a tackler - with partners like Mascherano, Diarra, Khedira and Busquets over the course of his career.
Sahin can takle. He is very much a Redondo type of player.

Gago, Lass, Kheidira and Kaka will be out the door me thinks. AT least 2 of 4 will, Diarra may be content to hang out on the bench and get to play in Jose's super negative formation a handful of times a season.

Think a holding pair of Alonso and Sahin will be very, very fucking impressive.

Would anyone here take Lassana as a defensive mid?

Give them 3 years under Mourinho and even Barca would find it hard to live with them.

If they had a settled system that works in all types of matches and they played it every week, there's no reason they wouldnt be as good. The difference is Barcelona, apart from Villa, have been playing their tactics and style for years. Madrid are still figuring out their shape and who is going to play in what area.

Yeah he's not as bad as some make out. Great engine, wins the ball back and plays the simple pass.

What i really want to know is how Madrid year after year keep getting these players so damn cheap! why do clubs not hold them to ransom over a player the way they do us or others? they seem to bend over and take it as some sort of honour to sell their player to them.

Exactly.

Real Madrid are some holy team of something for most of the people in the world.

IMO most players think if they sign for Madrid they have achieved everything possible or something like that. Madrid's power is baffling.

Well, Ozil & Sahin would have had only 1 year left on the contract at the time they moved to Real. Plus Sahin's contract had a minimum release fee, so they couldn't hold out for more, possibly the same for Ozil, can't remember.

Heard a rumour that Real came knocking last season when Sahin was due to negotiation with Dortmund. He wanted a Real deal before the season kicked off.

His release clause was around £10-12m, depending on sources.

shame he left dortmund, you could see they were missing that creative spark in the middle that he used to provide and probably would have had the key to unlock Arsenal.

That and someone less shit then Lewandowski up front.

Yep, having him at the very least would've kept Kehl out of the team. I'm not sure whether he's just been ruined by injuries or he's only valued for his experience, but he's looked poor when I've seen him. They really missed Barrios too, key to their team with his movement and ability right across the front line which Lewandowski just can't give them.

Was injured the first 3 months of the season. Played 1 league game and 5 games overall. Said the reason he joined Madrid was Mourinho but it hasn't panned out like he wanted. Injuries haven't been good enough of an excuse in the past for Madrid players.

Lass has done well for them and is trusted in the biggest games. Alonso isn't going anywhere yet. Think he'd be worth a sniff in the summer despite his long ass contract? They can't buy anyone with out getting rid of someone who isn't Casillas/Adan/Granero/Callejon/Arbeloa and we know Real Madrid always buy at least a couple of players every year.

They currently have a 23 man roster. 24th spot would be a young goalkeeper and they can't fill the 25th spot if he isn't a homegrown player so presumably that could be Canales' spot.

If Real would be willing to sell I don't think he'd be very expensive.

Well going to a new (big) club in another county and you're injured + having no pre-season then this happens for a player.

If he stays then he should have a very good next season at Bernabeu.

What, not playing? Sure. But what happens if Mourinho leaves next summer. You've then got a new manager who might not know anything about you because you haven't played at all for the club.

Still not many signs of life for him at Madrid and still no obvious reason why. Blaming the lack of a pre-season after he's been fit for months is a bit puzzling.

After last night's CL match Mourinho was asked how Madrid will handle Alonso's suspension in the QF. He mentioned Lass and Granero, with Sahin sounding like an afterthought.

So, I've not seen him play enough to know how good he is/could be. For those who have, is he a PL kind if player?

Linked with us in the BBC gossip column today, never seen him play but seems to be classed as a good young prospect. Must have something about him to be picked up by Madrid.

Sahin do a Sneijder and be sold on the cheap only to impress elsewhere?

If he's cheap enough it's definitely a gamble worth taking, he was fantastic at Dortmund and could be a good foil to Carrick and eventually his replacement if he ends up reaching his potential.

Hes more than a decent "prospect".

Imo last year he was the best player in the bundesliga.

He would of excelled in our team if we snapped him up, but the bright lights of madrid unfortunately have potentially ruined another career.

Now would be the time to snap him up on a fairly cheap deal if mourinho see's him surplus to requirements.

I doubt it. Once he gets fit, I expect him to make the match squad often. If not the starting 11.

He was brilliant at Dortmund and is a big talent. However, there are better talents in Germany alone for midfield
