Oh Carroll!
OB signs Man U keeper
Published 18.08.09 jp.dk - OB signs Man U keeper Former Manchester United goalkeeper joins Super League club Odense Boldklub on three-year contract OB has signed the former Manchester United goalie Roy Carroll. The 31-year-old from Northern Ireland has left English Championship division club Derby County to join the Odense club for three years. Derby agreed to release Carroll as a free agent. Odense is Carroll’s s seventh club, a list which counts Hull, Glasgow Rangers and of course his 2001-2005 stint with Man United. The new goalkeeper immediately made his debut in the Danish league last night against FC Midtjylland, which fielded former OB goalie Arek Onyszko. Onyszko was recently convicted of domestic violence and did not receive a warm welcome on his return to Odense. Fans booed Onyszko and Carroll got the best of the matchup, as OB won 1-0 to move into second place in the Super League standings. *** What do they say? Pride comes before a fall? True in his case! He should have accepted SAF's offer. It's been all the way down for him after United > West Ham > Rangers > Derby County and now > OB |

Good on him. More footballers should go abroad. Experiencing a different culture might even help him with his problems.

He was a strange one, really. I remember after Howard was dropped in favour of him, he'd go on a run of games where he'd be in absolutely mental form. That would last until he dropped an absolute clanger, which would then trigger several games of absolute disaster for him, which would lead to him being dropped for Tim Howard.

Never thought he was much good for us (besides the occasional impressive performance), and didn't look much better at a lower level for Derby, but perhaps he'll get by okay in the Danish League, as there are quite a few relatively weak teams there (despite Kobenhaven etc. being of a quite good standard). Interesting to see if he develops much form there, though I personally can't see him improving much as a keeper by this stage (31 already).

Due to this error against Spurs, I got a bump to first class that holiday period. It was just a day after the match and I had a United jersey on, I was getting stick from some Arsenal fans at the airport and the lady checking me in said someone did not show up at first class so she was bumping me in due to all shit people were throwing at me.
So I have nothing but love for Carroll. |

I hope he does well over there.
He is an ex United player after all, even though he probably should have never been in the first place. To be fair he was a decent backup, but he played too many games and he wasn't really good enough. He should be a star over there if Liam Miller is anything to go by. |

Carroll was on trial at Sheffield United however he conceded two goals within ten minuets and was sent off, which led to a penalty during a reserve match against Barnsley. As a result of his poor performance whilst on trial, he was not offered a contract with the Blades.[27]
Just found this on his wiki, Have to say I laughed. |
