A huge mess indeed. I'm a Botafogo FR supporter. We're the smallest of Rio's 1st division teams. I'd say our star players are Sebastian "Loco" Abreu, and Maicosuel who was at Hoffenheim up to last month. Maicosuel is another example. Botafogo owns only a share of his rights, a company named Traffic owns the rest.

But United is my first love...

Traffic are involved with United or at least they used to be.

Hmm maybe Traffic now owns 65% of Possebons rights.

Wasn't aware of this deal. Yeah, that's Traffic's business. They develop young players, or purchase rights to ones they don't develop. Then they loan the players to Brazilian clubs so they can show their skill. Once a European club comes around to buy, that's payday.

Not really nice the way they get some of these young boys out of school and training pretty much full-time, away from their families.

Hasn't featured for the first team at all as far as I know. I read he's been playing for Santos' Under-23 team. I didn't even know clubs here had those...

Things don't look to bright for him right now...

Yeah. Seen the stats on the Santos website too. No appearance at all.

Shame really. I remembered seeing MUTV clips for his first few reserves games. he did look very good for his age then. Very composed and calm. Did he get some sort of injury while with us? I think he did.

Broke his leg against Boro. Pogatetz went into a loose ball really hard. I imagine that its affected his mind.

No he didn't. He was back playing in a month.

Think it was the loan move to Braga, which ruined his career.

Never got the hype about him. People looked at his nationality rather than his skill tbh.

Oh, true. Sorry about that then, for some reason I had it in my mind that he'd broken his leg.

Do you ever get tired of trotting out the same rubbish line every time his name gets mentioned?

That injury definitely did really set him back, and then the loan move seemed to finish him

His skill was good. Physicality and mentality for premier league football? Perhaps not. In his fleeting time playing for the first team he just wanted to pass the ball backwards. I think like with most young Brazilians, nationality did lead to over-hype. But we tend to do that with our youngsters regardless of where they are from.

Former Manchester United Youngster Set for Shock AC Milan Switch

Former Manchester United youngster Rodrigo Possebon could be set for a shock move to AC Milan in the January transfer window, according to reports on talkSPORT.

United sold Possebon to Santos last year and it was thought Sir Alex Ferguson had hoped to use the sale of the midfielder as a sweetener for a potential deal for striker Neymar.

The 22-year-old had been tipped for big things at Old Trafford having signed in January 2008. However, a broken leg suffered during a Carling Cup game served as a major setback to his progression through United's ranks.

He was sent out on-loan to Portuguese club Braga in a bid to get his career back on track but the spell proved ultimately unsuccessful and he moved back to Brazil with Santos last summer.

Ferguson may be left to rue his decision to let Possebon leave with the midfielder flourishing in the Brazilian league. His form has reportedly alerted Milan who are thought to be ready to offer him a chance to play in Serie A when the transfer window reopens in January.

That can't be right.

Tim Vickery was saying the other week about how he's not really getting much time for them

I watched them for the best part of the last year and he was very much a second-string player, coming in when the internationals were away (youth cups, Copa America) or playing in the Copa do Brasil. From a quick look on ESPN he's not played since August so if anything it's gotten worse...maybe they mixed him up with Ganso.

Yeah, I haven't heard a thing about him all season long... AC Milan might be interested, but it wouldn't be because of 'hitting form'.

Yeah I read that - he's joined them via loan from a Brazilian club who had signed him basically minutes before right?
