Re-sign Larsson?
Swedish striker Henrik Larsson is considering offers from three Premier League clubs, Sky Sports News understands.
Larsson returned to hometown club Helsingborgs in 2006 but his contract expires in November and he could now be set for a move back to England. Helsingborgs are understood to be ready to sell Larsson for a small fee and a number of Premier League sides are interested. Larsson enjoyed a successful loan spell with Manchester United in 2007 but the English champions are not thought to have made an approach for Larsson. Aston Villa would also appear to have other targets in mind, ruling out a reunion for Larsson with his former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill. Larsson won four titles in seven years with Celtic before helping Barcelona to UEFA Champions League glory in a two-year spell at Camp Nou. Larsson will turn 37 next month and may decide he wants to see out his career in the Premier League. |

He would be perfect 2nd option IMO. Yes please. Of course just in case that we won't sign Berbatov.
Larsson for this year, and Berbatov for the next one. Not a bad plan. |

he was too slow 18 months ago, I don't think it would be a good move for us

i'd love to get him in. he would be a reliable 4th choice striker that we could call upon when really needed, late in matches when we need a goal for example. more so though i think it would be good for the younger players to have another wise old head about who has seen it all and done it all before. besides, he still looks useful when i have seen him in a sweden shirt. if his wage demands are reasonable sign him up.

Lot of negativity here which i did expect, but think on this. We don't get Berbatov, which some people on here would see as a complete disaster, on the last day a few hours before the deadline we sign Larsson for around half a million on a one year contract.
What would your response be to this? |

On the other hand, he's nearly 37 years old, and he's probably 2/3rds the striker he was whilst on his loan spell here. We would still, in theory, have two strikers who are able to be relied upon regularly, as well as a sicknote, a youngster, and, from the perspective of football, an ancient and old man. This is a rather odd strike force. I'm not in the 'panic brigade' with regards to our striker situation, and although I certainly wouldn't mind someone like Berbatov here, I don't really think I'm overly concerned if he doesn't end up here this season. However, I would like to see another option up front, assuming that Saha is basically finished. Ideally, someone in a second striker position who has experience. For me, Larsson just doesn't seem like a very good 'solution' to providing more options to the manager. Edit: ...but a decent solution, nonetheless. |

Larsson's club has been crap this season in the league like usual so it wouldn't be surprising if he left. Fergie loves him and United did contact Helsingborg last December about another Larsson loan but Helsingborg wanted to keep him because they were still in the Uefa Cup.
