I think he`s better than Neuer.
And I know Adler is a Manchester United supporter (Of course that means not much in professional football, for example Solskajer is a Liverpool supporter). |

![]() To have a great goalkeeper in the team is very important. 20m is a fair price for Adler and german goalies are always fantastic. |

There are not many top keepers in the world and there normally taken for. If Adler has the potential to be one of the best in the world given time and give United a decade of service, 20m is fuck all to pay when you look at the bigger picture. This is exactly the type of keeper we should be looking for to replace VDS IMO and 20m is not to high a price to pay for it. It would be a wiser strategy than throwing Lindegaard straight in as number one IMO. |

I think we would have to wait for De Gea and probably have to face competition from a lot of top teams for him. If Adler is available right now or in the summer for the speculated price I can see us going for him.

Adler has - especially due to his injuries - had a mediocre last season, to be honest.
Pundits put him above Manuel Neuer when he made his debut in 2007, but the Schalke goalkeeper has overtaken him in the last two seasons, putting in superb performances in week after week, looking more consistent than Adler. It remains to be seen how Adler performs this year - should he return to his heroics of 2007/2008 then he is certainly a candidate who should be looked at. |

I never understand why people think that - having a great keeper is surely as, if not more, important than having a great striker

I also know that Adler has said in the past that he is a Manchester United fan. As this hopefully can end up being a 15 year signing, that might be a good thing. I know Neuer has been more heavily linked to Manchester United, but it has been a tight fight between the two for the German spot, Adler was in front ahead of the South African World Cup but were stopped by injuries. I think van der Sar's replacement should be one of the two, both seem very talented. The neck in neck battle can be healthy for the two as well as they will have to perform to become Germany's number one. A rivalry whom might make them the best couple of goalkeepers in the world.

No, he would not. In my mind being great in Spain proves nothing, personally I think Lindegaard will give De Gea a fight for his money, in England you have to handle crosses. You never know if De Gea can do that because Spanish goalkeepers are far more protected by the referee than in England. The German league is more similar to England at that. Germany always have a candidate for being the best goalkeeper in the world as well... Neuer and Adler are both better candidates than De Gea. Even though they both are only 25, both of them will have almost 150 Bundesliga matches experience after this season.
PS: I think Lindegaard might be talented enough to fight Adler/Neuer as well, but you never know... There simply is no data, but he is the best goalkeeper I have seen in Norway. Thordstvedt left the league before I started to watch football, he is the only better goalkeeper I know of, and he became very good. |

They Bayer Leverkusen fans saying that Adler will probably leave the club in the summer (Contract till 2012) and Manchester United is his best option, he wouldn`t go to Bayern Munich and he loves England/the Premier League/Manchester United.
They`re saying too that Leverkusen have already a replacement for Adler (The current number 2 Giefer - Another great youth product and U 21 goalkeeper of Germany) and the clubs needs money for some other positions in the team. |

That Adler is a Manchester United fan is neither a negative. It makes getting homesick and becoming want away less likeley, because hopefully whoever we sign, if its de Gea, Lloris, Neuer, Adler perhaps even Lindegaard will develop into the best goalkeeper in the world. Because a club like us needs to have one of the very best in the world. |

I think Adler is only 1-2% better than Neuer (It`s only my feeling), both are on the same level right now and no doubt both are on the way to the world-class level.
To be honest i don`t care if we get Adler or Neuer.........i´m 100% sure one of them is the Manchester United goalkeeper for the next decade. De Gea or Lloris are very good goalkeepers too but we wouldn`t make a mistake with a german goalkeeper. |

I think we will sign someone too. We have never been linked to as many German/Bundesliga players like now. A couple of Bayern Munchen players are as always linked, we have been linked at least three or four Dortmund players, that playmaker at Nurnberg, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Dzeko etcetera. It seems like our scouts are taking a good look at the Bundesliga this season. Adler and some talented midifelders this summer. |

Iker Casillas is fucking overrated too. He would struggle in England, with no refs to defend him in the box, not to mention that the guy simply is to small. We could never know this, as he will be Real Madrid for life, but overrated. I think Cesar would have a harder time in England as well.
I want a big guy, someone over 1.90 centimeters. Akinfeev is 1.85, Adler is 1.91, Neuer is 1.94... the numbers are small, but the difference still matters. Against Jones, Carroll or Drogba on a corner kick that can be the difference between a conceded goal, and a save. Barthez was short, world class abroad, decent in England, van der Sar is tall and brilliant in England. We want someone with size, not some midget from Russia. Best bet: go German. |

I'm not saying Adler is better, but if he is then why would you object to spending the extra for him? Why does the comparative transfer fee matter if we get the best man for the job?
'Just a keeper'? This mentality confuses me, the goalkeeper is a monumentally important player, and has to be far far more consistent in his level of performance than any striker. It is also a more specialist role, with far fewer names to chose from, so really if anything keepers should cost more than any other position. Obviously there are other factors, but there should be no adversity to spending big money on a keeper if he's the right one. |
