Shrewd transfer suggestions, well hopefully, potentially...
I don't necessarily see why we have to go for some "name up in lights" all very fashionable option, assuming we are in the market.
So i'll start this off with two names from Scotland, one highly rated and still up and coming and the other rather more established. Hibs' Steven Fletcher and one who we've been linked with before in Rangers Kris Boyd. You see, as i understand matters, we are looking for someone who can offer an alternative form of attack and be content if only for now even, to not be a regular starter. Put himself out for the team. SPL watchers msto welcome and anyone else who feels like commenting. Oh and contribute other such candidates too, potentially clever swoops shall we call them eh. ![]() Berbatov, Benzema and Huntelaar are for all intents, banned from thsi thread. |

There is nothing to laugh about. Look at our history. Cantona, Ole, Ronaldo, Anderson, Irwin and Schmeichel were all shite because they came for less then 24.99m. Not to mention the homegrown talent, players like Charlton, Scholes and Giggs. What the hell had we ever won with this guys?PS Pls confirm to me whether SAF was signed for 24.9m. If thats not the case then we should sack him and hire Berbatov instead.

It is so boring that there are so many transfermuppets around who refuse to see there are more players in the world than Benzema and Berbatov. Huntelaar has been put on ice as it seems. I only hear his name at times. Players that will cost you 40m punds are silly. There are still players out there like Ole who won't cost you a thing.
As I am from sweden I prefer hard working guys with good skills and heart. What some people don't know is that Ibrahimovic is not always the best player in our squad. You hear them say sweden is only ibrahimovic, and he hardly score for us. He is important but we could do just fine without him. I would like to highlight two players that I believe could be great names in england. First one is Johan Elmander. I already wrote a big piece on him before and this is an outstanding targetplayer. You don't get the old fashioned one that is lazying around close to the box, this guy can run like a fucking horse all over the pitch with enormous speed. The time we were facing Spain he made Torres look like his 4 year old brother on the pitch. Another name that I hope and believe we will see in the euro cup is Marcus Berg. He had a career like Andreas Anderson, former Newcastle player. Had one season where everything happened and the big things started to happen. The guy was scoring so many goals he would have broken the old record by the double amount if he'd been staying. As for all players who come from a country that is not spain, italy, germany or england they will have to walk the long one. Get your ass over to holland and then they'll pick you up. Then there is Marcus Rosenberg. Not my favorite player, but the guy is just goals goals goals. He will find them whenever he plays. Not always a regular and still 12 goals in the bundesliga. |

Sorry I'd just like to highlight the suggestion of Kris Boyd. Isn't he 3rd/4th choice at Rangers? He'd probably do OK in the Prem but for Manchester United? WTF are you on? I've never seen that guy from Hibs but apparently Madrid are interested or something. He's most probably alright but again I doubt he's that good.

Its how you see it. Signing a great talent like Ronaldo for 12m was a bargain. Stating that, because many clubs do not have the financial pull that they used to have they stepped back (Juventus for example where pretty close in signing him but they couldnt afford him). Same thing happened with Kaka. Due to the fact that no English club could have signed him (work permit bs) Kaka was restricted to just Spain (Barca and Real didnt needed him) and Italy. Now 6m may sound ridiculous for the EPL sides but it is quite a big sum for many cash strapped Serie A clubs. In fact it frightened many clubs and only AC Milan ended up stepping in. The truth is that there is no money left in football apart from the EPL and few big clubs in Spain and Italy (in Italy there is just Inter). Spending 25m for a 27 yr old striker is RIDICULOUS.

You freely acknolwedge that you've never seen him play and probably have all fo zero research or info to go on, and yet, have concluded "I doubt he's that good". Why so? Please tell me that this isn't one of those times where the said linked player doesn't have an exotic enough name is it? |

The reason that we are linked to berbs/hunts/benzes, and not boyd/fletcher is because we are a big club, have european cup/league title aspirations, and we're not fucking sunderland.
If you're talking about being realistic in terms of players that improve our team then you would have no choice but to talk about berbs/hunts/benzes. If you're talking about squaddies, sure, fletch/boyd's fine.....but i think our squad is full of enough good squaddies as it is |

Suazo from Inter - he's lightning quick, strong & a good finisher. In 2006 he scored 22 goals in Serie A for Cagliari & was voted joint best foreign player (along with Kaka). In 2007 he scored 18 goals before moving to Inter.
Milan & Inter battled it out to sign him last summer, Inter got him for £9Mill I think. He's wasted at Inter...he's only played 17 times in the league scoring 9 goals & 4 times in the CL with 2 goals. He's not really been involved much toward the end of the season, as Mancini has been playing 17 year old Balotelli ahead of him. |

We've been linked with him before, i thought i'd throw him in and i wanted a name to go with Fletcher who fitten the mould. It be a stew with varying degrees of sanity in the pot. You'd think me donwright crazy by the sounds of things obviusly. I notice that instead of contributing a name yourself, or commenting on Fletcher for instance, you could only crticise. Care to do one or the other, would go some to further the thread and making up for my ignorance. |

As for Boyd I worry for any striker who plies his trade in Scotland and who hasn't made the leap at a younger age. having wathced some SPL games the lack of quality is often evident. Goals north of the border are one thing but very few come to the PL in recent years and do it - other than Larrson I suppose. A certain Marco Negri springs to mind - 50 goals in one season for Rangers - bench for relgation fodder West Ham. |
