Actually their are no rumors on twitter. A simple Sneijder search brings out that only this account (https://twitter.com/#!/JanuaryWindow) is saying something and it's clear as hell that it's a fucking WUM.

Btw Howard Nurse is following this account for some reason

Actually he's said it himself a few times in the past:

Quote:
With that in mind Tottenham’s Luka Modric has always seemed a better fit for United’s midfield than Sneijder, who made no secret of where his preferred position lies on the pitch following the dismissal of Gian Piero Gasperini. “I told him immediately: ‘I don’t like playing in central midfield at all’. I am an attacking player not a central midfielder… I always had the ball, it’s true, but I like to be further forward closer to goal… Better a second striker than a central midfielder. But in all I prefer to be behind two strikers.”

A formation with a Sneijder behind 2 strikers is still 4-4-2.

Apparently Inter have changed their formation recently and are struggling to fit Sneijder in. Is this true? Just what I've been told.

So is it also true that this formation is similar to a 4-4-2 and that their manager doesn't think Sneijder can play in a 2 man midfield?

If we're looking for an out and out central midfielder, then there's not even a question to be had. It would undoubtedly be Modric.

Sneijder hasn't been playing well as of late, and it's clear that he wouldn't fit into our midfield, because he doesn't play well in a two man midfield and is usually deployed in a more attacking role.

I think it's a bit more complicated than that in all honesty. Ranieri's problem is trying to play 4-4-2 when he has 2 play makers in Alvarez and Sneidjer who all want to play behind the 2 forwards. Yet he seems ATM to prefer playing two toughies down the middle, with one being a passer. Their revolving injury list it seems to me has also been crippling any options for him to try something else formation wise.

Going back to Modric, unless the money offered is insanely good will he still want to move to Chelsea at the end of the season? They need him but does he need them? Or is it about wanting to stay in London?

I think it will all depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League or not. If they don't, then I think that completely rules out the possibility of him going to Chelsea. If they do, then there could still be a chance of him going, if Chelsea are willing to offer a lot of money. He'd definitely go if Tottenham failed to make the Champions League and Chelsea did, but as time goes on, Tottenham are now looking like certainties to at least qualify.

To be honest though, if he did leave, then the only winners would be Tottenham. Modric may be a very good central midfielder, however £40m is still grossly overpricing him. He's good, but not as good as some claim.

On the other hand, Spurs would benefit because they've already got Parker who I feel has been just as good for them this season, as well as having a lot of money to go out and spend on a quality replacement. They'd be able to lure in a top class midfielder if they were in the Champions League.

Grossly underrating Modric and his importance to spurs here. not that i believe he's worth 40mil but comparing him to parker is insane. They have completely different roles and though both do their job very well, a scott parker can be replaced much easier than a modric.

If they let him go, i dont see them getting someone of similar quality at all. He's a very good CM.

fwiw, i dont see chelsea bidding more than 40mil and i dont see spurs accepting anything less, so its all a moot point really unless there's a real disaster at WHL and they somehow dont qualify for the CL.

I'm not underrating Modric at all. He's a very good midfielder, and is better than Parker, but not by much. I think the best way to describe him is as a jack of all trades, but a master of none. He's a good all-round midfielder, however there's nothing about that makes me watch him in awe at all, and nothing to justify a £40m price tag either.

surprised to hear all that tbh. He's on a different league to parker really. and he is not what you'd call a jack of all trades... at all. that is what i'd call someone like fletch not modric.

am surprised you dont see the quality in modric. definitely not worth 40mil but price of a player is relative not an absolute so no point going there imo. he is a class act though. runs and dictates game from the centre of the park, creative player. top drawer in my book.

135-150k>45k or the 90/100k we've offered in his new contract, which is the absolute max we can go to.

And Modric>>>>>>>>>>Parker.

Funny, a few months ago I wanted him but now, DO NOT WANT! I'd rather have Modric. Come on 'Arry, go and take that England job. It will open the door for us on Luka.

With chelsea interested, we'd never get him. not with spurs already value'ing him at 40mil or so with Levy still there.

You never know. He might not want to end up at CFC with all their issues. And who knows, maybe ol' Unc Malc won't mind breaking the bank on this one if it's SAF's wish...wishful thinking eh? Though all hope's not lost.

I was eager to sign him last summer but given how his seasons been going I wouldn't be keen anymore... I also think he's acted like a bit of a dickhead over the whole thing.
