Spurs have definitely bid for Gomes (PSV Keeper)

What from I've read in the media, PSV are desperate to keep him but he's unhappy with goings on at the club. I've no idea if Gomes is just agitating for a better contract at PSV, or whether he really wants out.

But Spurs have made an offer, so we shall see what happens.

I bid $2.00 for some gum down at the supermarket just before. Unsurprisingly I won.

Just wondering Glaston is were are Spurs getting all they money from , you guys tend to spend more than even United over the last few seasons and already this season you have already spent a bundle.

He might struggle here. Great shot stopper but he flaps at crosses a fair bit. Better than Robinson though.

He would be a seriously good acquisition - in a few years he could be a top keeper. Certainly one of the best of the rest, the best being: Buffon, Casillas, Vander, Reina, Cech.

I think he has the talent to play in the upper echelons of the footballing world (not that Spurs will provide that, but he will get to play against us a few times a season at least ) and will get to stand between the hallowed sticks of the premierships finest.

Generally it comes from being a very well run, usually profit-making club with the 11th largest income in the world and the lowest ratio of wages-to-turnover in the Prem.

That income includes the 3rd largest sponsorship deal in the Prem, very high ticket prices and merchandising to a world-wide fan base.

But Spurs will also be selling players this summer - including Berbatov most likely - and that will recover a fair amount of money. It's just that, sensibly in my view, we're buying before we sell.

I always thought Gomes was pretty good though he had a bit of a shocker against Spurs in the UEFA last season

I think it's probably true that the club will be sold eventually, but according to those with some inside info it won't be until we have secured planning permission for a new stadium and arranged the finances for that (including shared funding).

When that's been achieved the club's value will be increased significantly and the sale price will be 450m - IMO they'll get it too.

I don't think you'll get that kind of money without CL football. Shit or bust for Levy in the next two years IMO.

CL football will obviously help boost the price, but 450m regardless is entirely realistic.

The highest share price for Spurs in last 12 months has been 168.5p, which gave a Market Capitalisation Value of £310 million. With a new, bigger capacity stadium all tied up - and the greatly increased ticketing income that flows from this - the share price would rocket well beyond that figure.

And the new TV revenues + a premium for the buyer.

About right i would say.

Good keeper BUT capable of some mind numbling howlers at times.Needs to work on his concetration and collection of crosses which is surprisingly poor given how big he is.

I think United were offered three times as much as you got from Mansion

Hmm if you incur debt of say £500M to build the stadium I reckon that will give you a value of around -£50M

Why would anyone want to give up champions league football to play for Spurs. I'd understand if it was a bigger/better club coming in for him.

Money would be the first reason. And the Premier League is obviously the better league to play in.

I'd still wait at least another season for a bigger club, if I was him. Maybe he is as deluded as the Spurs fans, and thinks they are going to break the top 4 this season.

Probably, he seems like a bit of a madman. I don't think any bigger teams would want him though, there are plenty of better keepers out there right now. I personally think Spurs should be doing all they can to get Boruc.

Gomes signing looking close now - deal likely to be finalised next week according to a respected Spurs ITK.

Nothings guaranteed but good news if it happens - piece by piece the Spurs' jigsaw looks to be taking fine shape for next season.

The Polish media were quite sure that Tottenham would be in for Boruc.

They ended up with a keeper worse than him, in my view. Boruc will probably go to Villa or Munich now, although Milan appear to be interested.
