The ON TOPIC Berbatov thread...

The other one has become a train wreck, so we're going to try it again.

So-and-so said maybe we might sign Berbatov.

Take it away, boys...

There is so little chance of this happening it hardly warrants a serious thread

I guess the other thread might be ON TOPIC again if mods curb temper of some people there. After all, there are some recent sensible posts about Berbatov there, albeit mixed with some rather off topic bollocks.

Sort it out mods, there will be no need for a new thread then.

3-1 i got offered at ladbrokes today...

But football transfers often defy the rule that there is no smoke without fire.

Il stick my neck out and say, i believe you. But that doesnt mean it will happen, its just not sufficient, no matter how much i want to believe it.

I dont doubt your integrity though.

The deal basicallly hinges on Spurs fetting in another striker...
Which is, pretty much, what CH said,

Let the train-wreck begin....

One of the papers yesterday said that going to United was his "dream move". Is this the same person who came out and said he turned us down for Spurs, last year?!?

Anyway for what it's worth, he was bought for £10 million, had a good season and now his value is quoted at £30+ million. Good player.....at about £15 million, so no thanks!

Fuck me, that's a very specific valuation.

Would he be over-priced at 22, but a bargain at 20?

good player, has the cantona about him with his style and the things he can do with a football, but £30m when we have 2 nailed on first teamers in tevez and rooney, for a player who's 27 - no way

in the other corrupted thread he did state that MUFC took too long to get back to him. so i think it was on but the club had to sell ruud first. by hat time according to beratov spurs showed more interest. i think it's down to him not wanting to fight for a spot.

In the other thread, someone recently had a hint (true?) that the Fred to Spurs deal looked optimistic.

Cheers, FS

The Tevez thread was characterised by lots of good-natured off-topic stuff - that encourages people to join.

The other Berba thread was derailed by DA2's insults and the fact that my argumentative nature wouldn't let him get away with stuff like that (or his other misdemeanours). So apologies for screwing that one up a bit - but it was in the interests of justice.

Pity the 'English language debate' got buried though.

I always find people who get hung up on specific numbers quite odd.

Like k14, who just reinforces claims of prejudice about English players when he claims Carrick was overpriced at 14m + addons, but says absolutely nothing about Nani's 15m fee, in spite of them both spending a lot of time on the bench so far this year.

It weirds me out. It isn't our money anyway, and it isn't like Glazer is going to reduce ticket prices because he saved a half million on a transfer.
