Tosic and Ljajic

Wake up fellow muppets, got something interesting here...

Zoran Tosic at Manchester United

I don’t believe either, but B92 (pretty serious TV station, probably the most serious one at Balkan) just announced that Manchester United just bought Partizan 21 years old winger Zoran Tosic, for 3.5M Eur. Zoran Tosic already earned a couple of caps for Serbia. The European scouts could see him for the first time at 2007 U21 EURO at Belgium, where Serbia reached final and where he had a couple of solid displayes. That summer he was transferred from Banat Zrenjanin to Partizan, where he played in 57 matches, scoring 17 goals. In the meantime he earned 12 caps for the national team.

To be honest, even I am Manchester United fan, and one who will never ever doubt Fergies decisions, this one just can not be true. Don’t get me wrong. The kid is pretty good player, but not United class. In some Spanish mid-table club he could be good addition, but for the best team in the World (or at least one of the 5) I really doubt. He is leight-weight, pretty fast, with solid passing and excellent shot from the distance. One-on-one he is not the world class and will never be. Also, he is without any experience at the big stage. Playing for Partizan in Serbian league is not a remarkable achievement.

B92 is also saying that the part of the deal is transfer of Adem Ljajic to Manchester United, but they are saying that that is not confirmed yet. Tosic transfer is confirmed, at least they are saying that. News is saying that Ljajic will sign for United in the January, and then will be loened to some bigger stage to develop.

As I said before, I still do not believe in this stuff, but since it is B92 and since they did not publish any bullshit before, it could be true. I guess, in a couple of hours, we will see confirmation from some officials.

Seems a bit odd that he's already 21 and we've not been linked with him before as far as I know.

Anyone know anything about either of them?

Interesting. This Ljajic seems to be a decent player from what I've read/heard. If he's that good, where's the harm in bringing across his mate to keep him company while he settles in?

I think we've been linked with Ljajic a few times. He seems pretty highly rated.

Where are the FM tards when you need 'em?

This Tosic fellow doesn't seem to be United class. But B92 is a serious broadcaster in Serbia if you are to trust wiki.

Attacking midfielder who can play wide left / right.

Left footed and pretty good according to the scoots in the game.

It's FM though they're not that reliable.

Was just going to say that the youtube vids make out that he is left footed. The first vid was a pretty decent free kick.

Serbian national side is pretty mint these days. No harm hitching our packs to that particular wagon.

Weren't there people saying they'd stop supporting United if they signed any more Serb's? Who knows this thread could get interesting

How has Jovetic been doing at Fiorentina? Heard good things about him when we were linked

Who was saying that, and why?

He looked bloody good against us(Ireland) in the WC qualifiers, the cunt. Doesn't he know we have a divine right to qualify for the WC?

I think it was a thread in the Transfer Forum, maybe about Jovetic? But anyway some people were getting stroppy over the possibility of us signing another Serb and it turned into a political argument

Personally I'm happy to see more Serbian talent arrive, they seem to be developing very well as a footballing nation.

Manchester United have agreed an £8million deal to sign Serbian midfielder Zoran Tosic.
The 21-year-old left winger became a target for leading European clubs when he played a key role in Serbia’s run to the semi-finals of last year’s European Under 21 Championships.
Now United are ready to sign Tosic from Partizan Belgrade in January, subject to a successful work permit application next week.
The Home Office, who have appointed former England winger Chris Waddle to the panel looking at the application, demands that non-EU nationals must have played in three-quarters of their country’s matches in the last year and Tosic has appeared in only six of Serbia’s previous 14 games.
United will argue he is set to become a Serbia regular.
Dead-ball specialist Tosic will then aim to prove he can be the successor to Ryan Giggs on the left.

They are talking about it here. "Translation" here. I think one of them might be saying he's willing to carry Tosic to Manchester himself if they actually get seven million something for him.

Theres been talent in Serbia for years and years man. You would have known more about it if it wasn't for the war sanctions in the 90's.

Tosic is playing like shite the last few months. At the beginning of the season and at the Olympics he was seriously impressive and went up a few levels and I started to believe he could be a big player.

Ljajic is the one who could be really big though.

Quite a difference between £8 million and 3,5 million Euro though.

yeah, my regular taxi driver who takes me to the aiport is Serbian and he was telling me all about Serbia's sporting prowess. He mentioned this chap as a real starlet a few months back to me .... so will be great to add him to the likes of welbeck, possebon etc.

A left footed winger would be a good addition to the squad.

Can´t say I´ve ever seen him play though so I don´t know if he´s any good. But it looks like he has a pretty good left foot.

To my knowledge, jovetoc plays for Montenegro, not Serbia. There was a big fuss about him being their first captain if i recall correctly, despite being only 17.

Manchester United tie up £9m deal for Serbs Adam Ljajic and Zoran Tosic By David McDonnell 22/11/2008

Sir Alex Ferguson is signing Serbians Adam Ljajic and Zoran Tosic for £9million.

They will join Manchester United in January if granted work permits.

A fee has been agreed with Partizan Belgrade and applications for the necessary clearance already submitted.

Ljajic, 17 - dubbed "the new Kaka" - has been to Old Trafford for talks and a trial.

Landing the midfielder despite interest from Real Madrid would be a coup for Ferguson, particularly as the Bernabeu sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, is a Serbia legend.

Partizan officials have been to Manchester to sign an agreement, with winger Tosic, who has been capped 12 times by his country, coming as part of the package.

Tosic, 21, is nicknamed Bambi and can play on either flank.

Details of the individual cost of each player have not been released, but Ljajic was rated at £7m when first linked with United.
