From tonights Mail:
EXCLUSIVE: United in £8m swoop for Serbian midfielder Tosic By NEIL ASHTON Last updated at 8:34 AM on 22nd November 2008 Manchester United have agreed an £8million deal to sign Serbian midfielder Zoran Tosic. The 21-year-old left winger became a target for leading European clubs when he played a key role in Serbia’s run to the semi-finals of last year’s European Under 21 Championships. Now United are ready to sign Tosic from Partizan Belgrade in January, subject to a successful work permit application next week. The Home Office, who have appointed former England winger Chris Waddle to the panel looking at the application, demands that non-EU nationals must have played in three-quarters of their country’s matches in the last year and Tosic has appeared in only six of Serbia’s previous 14 games. United will argue he is set to become a Serbia regular. Dead-ball specialist Tosic will then aim to prove he can be the successor to Ryan Giggs on the left. |

Hell knows, probably some connections with Partizan. It happens quite a lot, a while ago Polish media made up several bids for Janczyk only for Legia to sell him to CSKA for £4m. He was worth about £100k at the time and now he's worth about £1k.
I'd rather believe there's some reason for making up all these bids. Perhaps they wanted to drive the price up as I said, or maybe spread the name of the players who were relatively unknown. |

Happens all the time and United does seem to be the agent's club of choice, when it comes to scurrilous transfer rumours. |

Most commentators from Serbia say Ljajic should stay at least another year in Partizan and then join a bigger club. Tosic however is ready to go. Some Partizan-haters compare him to Modric who Tottenham paid big money for and who hasn't been 'exceptional' so far (as praised by the Croatian media). I rate Tosic more than Modric anyway. Tosic is an awesome player but let's not forget he is playing in the Serbian league which obviously cant compare to the Premier League. But it looks as he can only get better. My favourite player btw is still Gojko Kacar who went to Berlin. 21 years old, very clever guy, can play loads of positions, in Berlin he's playing a Carrick type position and has already been voted as the most valuable player in Berlin. Both players though, Bambi and Kacar would fit in ManUnited nicely, no doubt about that. In the end I trust Fergie will make the right decision
