First of all, Berbatov is a long way from static.

Second of all, Ruud would have scored shit-loads of goals, playing for our current side. This whole myth around Ruud being the cause of all our problems in his final years at the club is ridiculous.

The poor fecker was playing in front of a midfield consisting of Kleberson, Djemba Djemba and Alan fecking Smith.

Pele would look like a medicore striker if he was relying on that lot for service.

Absolutely spot on post! People seem to forget how fucking unbelievably good Ruud was and how he carried us for about 2 bloody years.

You can say what you like, but in his final season Ruud was a lot less mobile than he had been before. He's got back into the groove in Madrid, yes - but that doesnt mean he would have here, without a change of scenery.

Forlan was abysmal for us! How many games did he go without scoring for the first time?

He is a great player and always was. He just didn't suit our style of play or the Premiership itself hence the flop tag that he has.

He did fine when given a run in the team. A long way from abysmal. He was never going to oust Van Nistelrooy from the side... Ruud cost more than double what we paid for Forlan - what were we expecting? Not everyone can be an Ole off the bench.

The reason he was considered a flop was that we sold him for so little. I could have told you how stupid that was at the time.

Berbatov's a long way from static when he can be bothered. Otherwise he's just static.

Ruud wasn't the only cause of our problems, but he wouldn't fit into the current way we play either.

I think you'll find that the reason he was considered a flop was down to his performances on the pitch.

The Ruud we bought from PSV certainly would. People forget very quickly how incredible he was back then.

There was a time when fans all over the country were split over who was better Ruud or Henry.

Fair comment. But playing for United, under SAF, will bring the best out of him (a la Cantona)

Ruud would have scored 30+ goals last season. I'm certain of it.

He was fecking woeful, to be fair. But as previously mentioned just another one who has obviously got the talent, just didn't suit the PL - just like Morientes, Shevchenko, Veron etc.

You're fighting a losing battle here Ekeke. I know Jersey 'butterfingers' Dudek tried his best to make him look good but it was always goign to take more than that.

I feel you need closure. He was a flop in the PL, get over it and move on.

He never came close to looking like the player he was in La Liga, from his very first game in Spain. Even after a run of games for United.

I know you're hard-wired to believe that there's absolutely no difference between playing in La Liga and playing the Prem and that everyone who performs well in La Liga will be a success in the Prem, so let's agree to disagree on this one, eh?

He was pants off the bench and took a long while to score his first goal. When he came in and played a run of games he scored goals and played alright. Not as good as Ruud, but thats why he cost just over a third of what we paid for the Dutchman. He wasnt going to take his place.

We sold him for I believe around £1 million to Villereal. Now thats a flop - not him.

He's not 'unsuited to the premiership' at all. He just wasnt considered a first teamer and thats what he always needed to play his best. To start lots of games, week by week.

How about you agree to disagree with yourself always trying to put words into my mouth?

It's getting tiresome, even for you.

Us allowing players to leave at knock down prices so they could forge a career where they so choose.

Like we did for Richardson, you mean?

You remember him? Curly-hair? Not very good?

Went for 5 times what we got for Forlan?

Or how about Rossi? We sold him for almost 7 times what we got for Forlan.

Of course, I know mere facts won't change your unbelievably fixed opinions on this sort of thing. Ho hum.

Villa

I think it's just because it's Spurs we look down on them a bit. The above team, supported by a good bench, would probably appease most United fans i reckon.
Eh, yes. It's a fantastic team for Spurs, but it's definitely not as good as ours. How many of those players would get a spot on our team? Villa would, presumably, and Hutton might. Anyone else?

Both sold after Forlan. How about Phil Neville just after? Nicky Butt just before.

Theres a reason I was talking past tense.

You know what? I'm done discussing this with you.

I actually can't believe I'm trying to convince a Manchester United fan that Diego fecking Forlan wasn't a success in the Premier League. What the fuck?

Life's too short for this kind of shite.

Carry on.

Well how about we talk about something else.

Like whether Butt and Neville were sold at cut price - like Forlan, at £3.5 million and £2 million respectively.

Course, if you think thats their true value... Thats your opinion. You know, like my opinion that Forlan wasnt that bad.

Difference is, I could probably handle your opinion and not act like a spoilt brat. We'll have to see though.

Ekeke, Forlan was shite. Even with a run of games he was little more than decent. For a player of his quality the chances he missed make him a flop. He tried hard, but he was still woeful. That's why we sold him for so cheap.

Phil Neville and Butt came from the academy, so they were free and so we made a profit on them. Even though Veron was a massive flop, we still recouped half of the transfer fee. We sold Forlan for 7 times less than what we bought him for.
