Vedad Ibišević
Hoffenheim issue a hands off warning to United over scoring sensation Ibisevic
By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER Sir Alex Ferguson has been warned off trying to sign the new scoring sensation of German football, Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic, after receiving glowing reports on him. Hoffenheim, a village of 3,000 inhabitants, have taken the Bundesliga by storm in their first season by overhauling Bayern Munich and Hamburg to top the table. Nobody has caught the eye more than Bosnia frontrunner Ibisevic, 24, whose 13 goals have made him the leading scorer and a target for Bayern and Manchester United, who both had him watched in the 3-0 victory over Hamburg 10 days ago. But billionaire software maker Dietmar Hopp, who has bankrolled his home village's fairytale rise, said: 'I have not invested so much in my club to allow others to come along and start picking off our best players. We don't need the money and we won't be selling anyone.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-Ibisevic.html Man United & Bayern Warned Off Ibisevic Hoffenheim have no plans to sell in-form striker Vedad Ibisevic, who has reportedly been interesting fellow Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich and Premiership giants Manchester United. The 24-year-old Bosnia international has been in sensational form this season and has powered the south-German club ahead of Bayern and Hamburg in only their first season in the top flight. His 13 goals so far see Ibisevic sit atop Bundesliga's scoring chart and also attracted the attention of bigger clubs with a report in the Mail Online claiming that Bayern's former World Cup winner Paul Breitner watched him in Hoffenheim's 3-0 win over Hamburg, as did United representatives. However, billionaire software maker Dietmar Hopp, who finances the club, has dismissed the possibility of cashing in on one of their assets. He is quoted as saying: “I have not invested so much in my club to allow others to come along and start picking off our best players. “All the players are under contract and are part of an exciting project. We don't need the money, and we won't be selling anyone.” http://www.premiershiplatest.com/new...t-5515330.html Who is Vedad Ibišević One would expect a star such as Miroslav Klose (FC Bayern München), Diego (SV Werder Bremen), or Mario Gomez (VfB Stuttgart) to be leading the goal tally at this juncture in the 2008-09 Bundesliga season; however, an unlikely forward from an unlikely club not only leads the goal tally with 13 goals but has a comfortable advantage over second place, where two players are tied with 8 goals scored. Vedad Ibišević, the 24-year-old Bosnian and Herzegovinian forward, leads TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in goals as the club pushes forward in its bid to shock the German Bundesliga in its debut season. After 11 matches, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim sits with 25 points—one point above Bayer 04 Leverkusen and four above global power FC Bayern München. Turning back to Vedad, he moved with his family first to Switzerland and next to the US arriving in St. Louis. He starred collegiality for the University of St. Louis University in 2003 and was named the NCAA Freshman of the Year after scoring 18 goals in 22 games. After his freshman season, he was signed by Paris Saint-Germain who was managed by fellow Bosnian and Herzegovinian, Vahid Halilhodžić, at the time. In the summer of 2007, he found his way to 1899 Hoffenheim and has been central to the club’s meteoric rise to the top of the Bundesliga. Internationally, he should look to be a mainstay on his nation’s roster as Bosnia and Herzegovina attempts to qualify for World Cup 2010. |

We're talking about a lad that didn't make it for PSG nor Dijon (where he's been sent on loan one season, they played in Ligue 2 or Ligue 3).... Let's calm down before signing a new Djemba*2 or Kleberson... He's definitely a good player but not United quality. He could sign for the scousers though.

I've seen him play (in person) when he was over here for St. Louis University. He was definitely one of the best Freshmen I've ever seen at the collegiate level. I haven't really heard much from him after he left to France, and was really quite astonished when I heard he was linked with United. Very, very good player 5 years ago.

I've got a good mate who's Bosnian, moved from Sarajevo to Turin for a few years then moved here in his early teens, good lad.
Nothing at all to do with this thread but because he's Bosnian, just reminded me of him..... |
